Poll: Do you think the Itemization Update will Release on June 25th?

I haven’t read the whole discussion yet.

My biggest fear is that instead of fixing the current crafting system as it currently exists, they will add some sort of parallel crafting/progression system that sort of, but doesn’t fully, replace the current system.

As evidence for this, we went through the same song and dance with VT2 crafting.

People were holding out hope for improvements to the crafting system, and Fatshark said “we’re working on it.” Then we got winds of magic, the main highlight of which was the anthanor system. It was awesome! Except it only worked for weaves and had no bearing on the main crafting.

And we said “surely you’re going to port this athanor system to the main game mode, right!?”. Fatshark were working on something more.

And then they released the Chaos Waste which introduced a THIRD item progression system, again with no bearing on the main game. It was a cool system, but didn’t address the core gameplay problems.

This is my fear for Darktide - that they are just going to shoehorn in some parallel system that doesn’t really impact the main crafting system in a significant enough way.

‘I bet this mod doesn’t work well NHYEEA’

well once again if you just tried those green eggs and ham you’d see that’s not the case. at this point its one of the more impressive design UIs of the game and its not even official. all of its executions in game are at the very start of a round, so its buttery smooth all game.

but like everything else you’re averse to it because EWWW THIS COMMUNITY made it.

100% think this didn’t happen because of how they sell skins for weapons personally.

@nemy123 he… wrote new vegas and fallout 2…

Also are Crafting bros worried that this is specifically called an “itemization” update. very specific word. Probably gonna be something noone asked for.

I think it will still feature crafting prominently. It seems unlikely they would tease an update that would only be how you aquire items (this is the only other “itemization” in the game besides crafting).

The biggest problem with Fallout 4 is that the world feels unnatural. In the sense that there is always something x distance away, regardless of which direction you that makes it feel too formulaic, and for me, this is subconsciously jarring…

Fallout 3 was BGS best effort. Skyrim is massively overrated, the dragon’s were laughable and just comical…

BSG has been awful for decades.

agreed, desperados + badlands 2 helps somewhat though.

for decades i’m hoping for a full procedurally generated north america fallout map where “clearing” a city would take weeks real time and travels through the wasteland to be planned ahead with provisions and ammunition (caravan be somewhat allowed  )

there was a certain promise of grandeur with the old “travel on a map” in fallout 1&2, that some far future day games would let you live through exactly that in real time and first person.

same way i dont use quick travel in fallout titles unless modded vehicles provide an immersive option.

oh and thank consoles for that cramped sandbox, guess those breadboxes would catch fire

I wanted it to have gun play more like STALKER, but more limited ammo… But the rest as you put it… I just wanted the game to feel like a wasteland…

dunno the proper name, i think “maim” or something adds locational damage in “realistic” proportions with bleedings, infections and stuff, many a mod to reduce the loot so sometimes you have the literal brittle shotgun shell in your pocket.

lots of fine tuning to be done though and the playfield sadly doesnt adapt in terms of enemy thickness or their loadouts mostly

He was just a designer not lead in Fallout 2. That’s exactly what I meant when I said people are prone to idolize single personalities and give them more credit than they’re due. Neither Fallout 2 nor New Vegas have a particularly great story or stand out in writing.
They’re definitely better than the other fallouts but that’s not saying much.

I hoped that he’d go back to old form after being lead on Kotor 2 but he still pumped out mostly mediocre stuff in terms of story and dialogue afterwards.

It takes the right mix of good people to make something great. You can’t throw a single guy with good credits into a bad game and hope the name drop itself magically provides a good story.

but for me they got the whole “feel good” package that, if could rub the monkey paw and make ne transfer into a games reality, it’ be up there in the top 3 with doom and darktide.

thats something not many games can procclaim for themselves.

Itemization: (noun)

I fear you could be right. Of course, my fear is the backlash from the community once again setting expectations for something that isn’t really explained beyond their own expectations.

If they have really been hyping an “itemization update,” that only changes how you view your inventory since the start of the year they need to have their heads checked.

Don’t you dare say the community is setting these expectations when they have very obviously done that themselves.

Where have we heard that before? This is from ‘THEGAMER’ June 2022

‘Magnuson says there will be a shop with a rotating inventory where you can buy gear with earned currency, but there’s also a system that involves completing a quest objective to unlock specific gear. He also described an extract/imbue system that will let you take traits off of one piece of gear and put it onto another one.’

also re-reading that made me realize we lost one of the most fun guns to ‘balance changes’. the original Mk7 Headhunter autogun that was literally a space SKS, very spammy like perfect hipfire and a ridiculous ammo pool when you remember one M1 = one bullet fired. I still miss it.

I will dare. If you look around in some of the forums, you’ll see some players doing that same assumption based on assumption thing.

Some are even doing that “THis is not what the players want” argument as if they speak for everyone. I’m seeing a lot of “If I don’t get what I want…” kinda rhetoric. If you can find a better way to temper people’s expectations than what’s already been tried, by all means.

Being called a community hero instead of community manager changes the way people act around you

For what it’s worth Hank’s hyping up redditors saying it WILL be about crafting

First of all, based on this description FS themselves gave, it is objectively a “crafting” update.

Second, the only expectations, or not even expectations but desires fit perfectly into that statement.

If people find this update unsatisfactory and leave, that’s on them. And would be understandable if they find the crafting system unworkable and don’t find the changes good enough.

As almost all complaints come from the RNG of the system, and they specifically mention RNG, I would consider that a fair enough “expectation” to have.

After going back and looking at the statement FS made at the start of the year, that is literally the only conclusion that I think is possible from that statement.

If they went back on that, well that’s just another Grudge to the book.

(Not referring to when it comes, but that the “Itemization” update is crafting)

Sure, but what are the odds of it matching everyones expectations?

All im saying is just wait and see.
