It’s time for a Daisy Civil War.
They’re the same directive. If you believe someone is being disingenuous, do not respond to them and break the forum’s guidelines while doing so. Use the Ignore button if you need it.
From the guidelines:
When you see bad behavior, don’t reply. It encourages the bad behavior by acknowledging it, consumes your energy, and wastes everyone’s time. Just flag it. If enough flags accrue, action will be taken, either automatically or by moderator intervention.
Ah yes, the flagging system that seems to be working beautifully and isn’t being abused at all.
Makes sense that a Discord moderator would prefere ignores, flags and mod intervention to solve an issue instead of actual discourse.
I’ll proceed as I see fit, thanks.
cut the man a break, don’t you know the labor he does is actually entirely unpaid? Really puts it all into perspective
That’s exactly why I’ve said several times that hiring unpaid people to do moderation work on paid products is wrong and an issue in itself.
Let’s not forget that that whole post and comment was part of a larger conversation between more than the people you see listed in that post. Others had been addressing the substance of several of your specific posts with plenty of detail already. I had nothing that I could say that had not already been said by Molonious. That being said I’ll concede that I may have had a stronger reaction to your tone than was warranted. It’s a fair criticism and I can see how it may seem condescending. I apologize if it came off as such, because that was not the intention, but I still do not agree that that is either an ad hominem or worthy of total deletion. I wasn’t “tone policing”, but rather trying to point out that whatever argument you’re making is getting drowned out by the way you’re making it. The way you used all the negative adjectives for various things was subjective and therefore, not worth “responding” to in kind, lest we just endessly go back and forth about how we feel on things. There’s nothing I can say to “prove” that you’re wrong in your subjective opinion on things. Which is the whole point. I still don’t know what objective aspects of HD2’s progression you’re criticizing because all I read was sort of taste related objections written in what struck me as a somewhat rage induced manner. Seething, if you will. In hindsight, I can agree that I could definitely have worded my own objection to yours better and more clearly, but there you go.
There’s contextual evidence. If my post hadn’t been deleted and taken out of said context, one could have just scrolled up and found a bunch of it. There were several replies that I felt sufficiently addressed what I vaguely understood to be your point and I didn’t see the need to just echo them. Instead, I made an attempt to intervene in what seemed like the latest emerging dumpster fire in my own way. It’s not unreasonable to think that when someone is speaking in anger, or uses a lot of inflammatory language, that a call to dial it down is warranted.
That’s fair and in hindsight I can see that. My apologies.
I was not and I did not. My intent was to point out that your expression of angry opinions is not really something that anyone could have a valid response to (ie, it’s not worth addressing). Though like I said, I could definitely have made that clearer and worded it better.
In all the definitions of an ad hominen that I’ve since looked at there are no mentions of tone. I did not attack anyone’s character, but rather the character of their behavior in both cases. I never said “X is a this or a that”. I said “talking like this is X, Y, Z”. There’s a real difference.
In the context of the full conversation that had been had by others and probably better than I could have, I did not feel a pull towards just repeating what they’d already said but rather I sought to point out that maybe we’re getting a little heated. But also, like I said, I could’ve done it better, but that was my thinking at the time.
I never implied any malice on your part, which is what I’m mostly addressing here in general. What I said to the other fella, I’d say again without hesitation. There’s more than enough grounds to justify not trying to engage in open and intelligent dialogue with him at this point, so that I fully stand by.
It’s a forum. We talk. That’s the whole point. Let people talk.
If you can talk without breaking the forum’s rules, by all means.
Maybe play some things by ear sometimes. It helps foster an environment where we can work through things like adults, rather than one that feels like a prison or a North Korean work camp.
I would very much welcome conversations where people work through things like adults. Those are not under scrutiny here.
Good, then you should stop deleting posts as those conversations can’t happen if you stop people from talking in the first place. A conversation can turn sour but end amicably if you make room for it. Deleting things should not be your first reaction.
I refer back to my earlier post, in which the forum guidelines are very clear about the sorts of posts that are an acceptable start to a conversation where people work things out like adults. It is not my assignment to let a toxic discussion continue uninterrupted with the mere hope that the participants might work things out like adults by the end of it. If that is the intention, one can start said conversation off the right way. It is, ultimately, very simple. Stay civil with each other.
Based on your purely subjective not professional, voluntary worker judgement. And when in doubt always loop back to draconic adherence to forum guidelines. Kind of a watertight loop you got there.
edit: adding a missing fact.
If the rules of a forum are in contradiction with the whole concept and idea of a forum, then they are not rules that should be in place and should not be enforced. To robotically abide by them in this manner is not doing anything to improve the environment here, no matter how many times you quote them and interpret them.
Human dialogue comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes it’s a little messy. That’s normal. Human beings are not robotic entities and shouldn’t be made to be so either. The best you can ask for is that is no one is outright evil in their behavior and no one was in this whole situation. If you take some issue with how a conversation is playing out as a moderator, then maybe step in and say something rather than censoring the whole thing.
y’all are clowns. threads gonna end up locked
Copium - we will see a trailer for the patch with item changes in the upcoming summer games fest.
Reality - fatshark has proven over the entire span of darktides existence the inability to listen to feedback. And as long as some people are still working there, we wont see any changes at all
that’s not even close to being true and you know it. The lock busting was supposed to be a stop-gap until they did a more complete solution.
It was a blunder, made into strange tensions between us and forum ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Gotta echo this, if all they have after several months is “We removed the locks!” i think they are in for a rude awakening when the feedback rolls in. There are several big problems aside from locks that kind of slither their way into Darktides system that others avoid.
Random stat bars ruin otherwise good weapons - Pretty self explanatory, this feeds into other problems but all you can do when a weapon is rolled is hope for a bad roll to end up on a dump stat.
No return on resources spent on a weapon upgrades / no way to break weapons down for crafting mats - This has been a problem brought up over and over again. Not even being able to break weapons down is such a dumb inclusion. Oh but here is you paltry sum of credits after spending several million credits to roll something decent.
No way to progress blessings besides luck - Combine blessings would have been a nice inclusion but now it’s “roll the dice until you find the blessing that you actually want” which brings me to the next point
Too many filler blessings - Seriously, i don’t get what the obsession is with making the good blessings way to hard to find while absolutely stuffing filler blessings on every weapon. So many boring ones when they could get really crazy with them.
None of what I’ve brought up is even new. These are points that were being discussed as early as the game’s release.
They’ll have a bunch of stuff, but no lock removal 100%.
Maybe we should start a poll “Do you think the Dev Blogs will release until June 25th”
