[POLL] Do you play Havoc?

Just because I am curious about this…

If you don’t play Havoc and wish to participe… the last option is for you (I don’t play Havoc at all)

Do you play Havoc?

  • I only play Havoc
  • I play more Havoc but sometimes I can go for Auric
  • I play Havoc and Auric equally
  • I play more Auric than Havoc
  • I use to play Auric and rarely play Havoc
  • I don’t play Havoc but I have tested it
  • I don’t play Havoc at all

Not a great spread of options here if you’re going to make so many.

I used to play havoc until the party finder promposals and bugs became too much to put up with (somewhere around “season 3”), so now I play only auric. I’m the type of player havoc was designed for. I’m precisely not the type of player the systems surrounding havoc were designed for.

I assume you mean if you dont play Havoc at all?

I do 50/50 split on havoc and auric, unless I’m so tired after the day I can only play 1-2 normal damnation missions. Recently been climbing with my friend from Havoc 16 to Havoc 40, we’re now at 26 and it’s been fun so far, although once again I prove my own theory that Havoc 20 can be almost as hard as Havoc 40, depending on the map and modifiers (we’ve got Gloriana 24 with rituals and stimms, and it was pretty messy), which puts in question how the gamemode is balanced.

Yes
And if you refused to test it or could not (there’s still a requirement to enter in Havoc)

I used to play more havoc, but at the moment, no thank you.

  • I get rejected with my hard earned true survivor title for sub20 havoc games, lol.
  • Today I got one shot with full health, full toughness, true grit arbitrator out of nowhere from I don’t know what

Let’s say it… I was not expecting the votes I see.

But keep voting. This is REALLY interesting.
It seems we are split :scream:

where’s the “I play one havoc 40 to get a season done and call it quits” option? :squinting_face_with_tongue:

There’s none..
I ask what do you play actually

So if you played and reached Havoc 40 and don’t play it actually… then you don’t play it but have tested it.
Here the choice you have to pick: I don’t play Havoc but I have tested it

not kinda the way I do it.

I claim my havoc 40 tag cause I’m capable to do so and usually got it done on the first try so far.

after that I don’t “need” havoc anymore cause the tag shuts up any critics by default

so in essence I don’t “test” it, I get it done with, quick

I took a long break from the game and mainly played VT2. It is a lot more balanced with a lot less OP player perks and weapon traits/blessings. All the friend groups in discord that I have left are a couple of small ones that invite me to play VT2.

Since switching over to Darktide again, there’s practically nobody I can play private missions with or do things like Havoc; and literally 0 parties are in the public lobby when I search for my rank, which is 1 since I haven’t played in so long.

The main thing that burns me out on Darktide is that Auric High-Intensity Shock Gauntlets are the main source of challenge and it’s all about elite/special spam. I miss the feeling I got when leveling a couple new characters on the campaign missions and individual enemies felt somewhat challenging; was much more down to earth.

Mortis trials looks like dog dooky. We need a proper version of Chaos Wastes style missions somewhere in the deserts of Atoma or something with a good rougue-lite end-game structure. That’d be the best place for a good enemy-spam on the final missions of a long journey.

Since the crafting system overhaul, I’ve been going through Auric quick play to get lots of weapon XP to unlock masteries fast; which is mostly the high intensity gauntlets for some reason. It’s practically like playing Maelstrom without any ability cooldown bonus.

I think I might burn out on the fact Aurics are my main source of a challenge, because it’s bloat and enemy spam. I want a game mode where the enemy numbers and the challenge is closer to Vermintide 2 on Cataclysm.

Every season, I reach rank 40, but I don’t keep playing Havoc after that until the reset.

The only reason I play Havoc is for “the online clout that comes with having the number 40 next to my character’s name”. :winking_face_with_tongue:

is to shut up them pesky ankle snappers before they even yap…. oh what a joyful mode it is to play :joy:

A year ago I was part of the mass Havoc spam when lots of people were getting their 50 runs for the cosmetics, I was quite happy low to rank 28.

Since then the Party Finder is far quieter and I only play Havoc when I have a full team with my friends which occasionally happens on weekends.

Gotta show them young kids that an old man like me still got it!

well pvp like the good ol days in quake and unreal tournament would be “harder” to the point of not yielding sufficient rewards for the effort put into nowadays.

reflexes aint exactly the same, naturally, but i’d say a good 80-85% from where I was.

especially temporarily being on chemo is affecting endurance and reaction time, but thats gonna pass once treatment’s done.

what’s not in my arsenal anymore is going 110% for 14-16 hours straight and staying “in the zone” no matter what.

something that made me win quake tournaments back in the day based on consistent performance and keeping the pace throughout the whole day.

then again if I reach my 80s+ I’m pretty confident in still playing doom and quake at a satisfactory level

your body may deteriorate but your mind can be kept sharp :+1:

I believe you and I have an advantage because as we are older now, we also have more patience and don’t get angry as easily.

Looking at my own child raging at Mario Wonders, I fondly recall throwing my NES 8-bits controller across the room and kicking the console when I couldn’t beat THAT LEVEL (still hate that level) in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or the pure hatred I felt for my best friend in the early teens when I was nine and was repeatedly telefragged by him in Blood MP or when he cheated in Killer Instinct.

The glee on my face when I absolutely murdered his butt in Unreal Tournament 2004.

What I miss about the 1990s and early 2000s is that calling each other horrible names and discussing what you’d do to each other’s mothers were all part of the game.

Nobody was offended because psyching each other out was all part of the game, and the best feeling was when someone broke and wrote an pm to you on Xbox Live that basically said " :skull: yourself" after a match where you killed them like 30 times in a row till they rage quitted.

These days if a ability or class is slightly not as good as another class, people start to throw fits like they are babies (see the Darktide playerbase), and its super cringe.

I remind clearly the numerous joystick (quickshot navigator) I have literally exploded in my hands. And when I say exploded, I mean really exploded by rage.
Yes, I was young… but sure, I have exploded 3 of them. The last it was because the character did not go up and right… I have so much pushed on it to show him (the joystick! lol) where he should have gone, that the joystick has split in two and all mechanic pieces jumped in all the room.

and if not crossing a line like “cheating” you’d do so at people’s faces cause they were in the same room with you most of the time.

no one was so weakened as to be agitated over some trashtalk banter.

guys cheating on a lan party though…. tar and feathers, torches and pitchforks

Everything was more fun; racist and sexist jokes in every Tv Show, kids cartoons and video games.

You could truly joke about everything in the 90s compared to today when people get mad at Fatshark over Hive Scum being able to shoot a bit more (which is a lie btw) than Veteran.

People became super soft and it sucks
