Fatfish i play your game way too much, and way too much of that excess is spent in matchmaking
For some forsaken reason when i pick Psyker i get matched with 3 Psykers, and when i play Zealot… What do you know, three Zealots
It takes on average 6 queues to get one match without a double
You know exactly what’d fix that, switching characters, why is it still not a thing
I’m sure there are technical difficulties like loading all of each accounts’ characters, but please find some kind of solution
Right now the best thing to do is pick one random player in the lobby and block them, otherwise you move on right to the next problem, you’ll be sent to their game AGAIN to backfill
So on top of that there is no option to opt out of backfilling which often just loads you right into a defeat screen, for which somehow you decided there’s an incompressible 20 seconds wait before you’re allowed to leave so it’s actually faster to just alt+f4
Seeing this phenomenon occure over and over and repeatedly reported, it really makes me wonder.
Maybe they tried to built a system in to encourage the matchmaker to avoid the same class you play, but it’s somehow bugged with a negative value and does the reverse?
Someone should peek through the code and see if they find anything.
honestly, this is likely just people caring way too much about which classes they get matched with combined with the 10X likelyhood of remembering a negative experience over a positive one.
And it only seems to be happening “so often” because nobody will ever report them being matched with the other 3 classes, will they?
Nah the number of times I play for a few hours and literally get 3-4 of the same class more than 1-2 of the same class is insane. I’m positive it’s not just a memory bias thing. It’s a running meme with the one guy I usually group up with. Oh we’re both playing Vet? 2 more incoming lol. But then that literally happens.
I don’t know what the hell is going on but this is for sure a thing with the matchmaking for whatever reason. Not that it really matters that much since class role is way less set in stone with the skill trees, but it’s perplexing and not ideal regardless.
Just checked my scoreboard history for the last 20 games, just for funzies, and i count only 1 instance of 4 of the same class games.(4 veterans).
For comparison’s sake 6 times run ended with all 4 classes present.
Obviously not the perfect way to look at it because the run could have started with different players, but i also don’t remember 4 class runs being particularly common.
Definitely not against having the capability to switch classes in lobby.
