Please Nerf Scab Gunners

Yes through some. In some cases, that is clearly a bug and i doubt that anyone would argue against this being something that should be fixed.
But proper solid walls are usually not an issue.

They do not fire non stop.
Yes, they can fire for quite a long time, once the start blasting.
But after shooting for a while, they have to stop and reload.
Also, they do not have unlimited perception range and they take a while before they start to shoot in the first place.

I usually kill most gunners, before they even get to shoot.
Because i look ahead and focus them down, when i spot them.

I’ve played this game a lot and I’m genuinely not sure I’ve ever actually seen a gunner reload. I’ve seen them pause or stop because they’re displacing or their LOS to a player has been broken. Do you know how long it takes for them before they supposedly reload? I know I’ve seen at least scab gunners fire continuously for at least 30 seconds plus, if not longer.

And when they reload, you have enough time to rush on them
Also, you can use enemies to take cover. I often do that as zealot

When i stand in open space in the psykhanium and spawn an elite gunner nearby (at a range of ~10m, from which it will start shooting)

  • it takes ~3 sec before it starts shooting for the first time
  • it keeps shooting for ~7 sec
  • it stops shooting for ~3 sec to reload

This goes for scab gunners as well as dreg gunners.

I guess in your situation, there were at least 2 gunners and they did not reload at the same time.

Can’t believe I’ve missed this after so long. I gotta test this when I get the chance.

never said perfect, i mentioned sliding to be the viable tool for countering them.

and do take into account, some engagements are worse due to mis-positioning in the first place.

caught in the open (this magistrati courtyard comes to mind) with gunners on both end is bad pacing combined with bad positioning and part of the learning curve in higher settings.

entering a section of a map i try to envision entries of encounters as well as exits for myself.

doesnt work all the time and in the heat of things, but having a portfolio of 3 or more scenarios is better than just relying on physical counter.

just a word of advice, aint pretty in written form, personally i learn the most from gameplay footage.

most likely scenario here, if clusters of 5 got a short delay reacting to the player that often results in what feels endless barrages.
grenades do come handy in such situations :+1:

Locking in melee barely works against them now.

They just fall back several meters to shot at you. However this means that they cannot shot at persons too close of them.

But true that, now, they don’t engage you in melee

I’ve definitely seen single gunners blaze away for obscene spans of time without pause. I’m guessing there’s variability to if and when they do the reload, or perhaps some janky inconsistencies like with everything else in this game.

Nope. They can shoot you at point blank range now.

i dont say you haven’t, not my place since wasnt with you in that match.

personally i havent seen lonely gunners in my havoc or histg/a.maelstroms so the only situations were it happened to me was groups of 5+

then again i dont stick around much to ā€œfind outā€ either slide zigzag or reposition keeping an ear on them rather than line of sight.

I played a regular t5 last evening with a mate; I got whittled to ā€˜red’ by a bunch of gunners a good 80m away before I’d even realised what was happening. Luckily had my ult ready to go else I’d have been toast.

That’s not happened to me before in recent memory. I don’t do havoc, so this is a relatively new thing in regular games for me (at least since the last time they made and quickly reverted this kind of gunner change… )

I’m actually okay with the effect; I wasn’t really paying that much attention 'til the screen flashed so it serves me right.

That said; hip firing a machine gun at that distance and accuracy is a bit of an oddity don’t you think? I’d get more reaction time to a sniper. And it’s also a bit odd when a whole squad of gunners all decide to simultaneously focus me (when other teammates were around). They aren’t that coordinated in other aspects.

tl;dr I don’t mind the result; the method to achieve it is awry

I agree on this.
However, I am not sure the current darktide engine could allow something else.
