Please make all Boxes have some loot

Another frustrating RNG aspect not often mentioned is empty boxes.
Literally only every 3rd or 4th box has some loot.
I’d suggest to fill all boxes with Ressources as ressources are allways short and with the bad to mediocre weapons the shops offer we at least can hope for some decent improve consecrating them - not to say how urgently earn and re-blessing needs to be added.

Just doent make going for boxes worthless and increase the overall distribution of crafting materials.
you need to play 3-4 around Missions to get enough plasteel to consecrate 1 weapon or curio from anointed to transcendant and with the overall bad availability of average weapons we could even try to make them less bad and at least a bit better without to play 2 hours for every try that also mostly fails to improve anything, but more often ruins it completely.

With a good crafting system, this would give us too many materials.
I already have 3000 diamantines and… Only 200 plasteel
But why?
Cause i repeat upgrading weapons to try to get good blessings… Something that make me raging.
But… Soon™ we will get crafting system. Next week™.

I’d think its a quick hotfix until we get a better crafting, if we get better and foremost feature complet crafting.
If we then have it, they can tone it down, but still make it worth to went for every box and have at least a small amount of something usefull rather than nothing but musty air :smiley:

Tbh im fine with the current system… If im correct all boxes present the map at the same time (idk why probably boxes part of the map assets) so you can make a mental note which size of box where to find… So you can consistently know the locations… As loot wise i think that’s part of the AI director… Pre defined boxes location allows it to spawn medkit / ammo at the next map segment if the party not doing so well…

Also also game flow not feeling so sweaty to cahse boxes… if you miss boxes who cares cuz probably empty anyway…

Even if they don’t have ammo/healing/crafting mats, it might add to the environmental storytelling if there were bits and pieces and doodads in otherwise empty chests.

Distribution of Ammo and Medkits is all fine, but every box should contain something and not let you check it in vain.
It should be more of a “tactical” decision to check them and risk an ambush got split from your team.
Risking it and getting nothing is too frustrating.
There is a finetuning in risk reward that is not met imho. Rewarding something small is better than rewading nothing at all.
I never like to rush and want to search levels and all boxes even if its time consuming and sometimes less rewarding, but it should allways be rewarding at least a little bit imo.

Because you only play on the harder difficulties, it is inversely proportionate for the easier tiers and malice being the medium flow of both DM and PS.

I play a lot of Malice for that reason and becaus i mostly play solo in pugs.
I have beat every missiontype on Damnaion and also played more Heresy and Damnation Missions in pugs and premade.
While H and D is more challenging and can also be more fun, it’s also not consistently successfull, especially in pugs. Premade i mostly are, but many premade grouips split up after 2-3 damnarion runs as they require some concentration.

Malice is somewhat my sweet spot for fun purging heretics, getting ressources, doing my weekly contracts etc.
If it gets stale or boring i try a Heresy Mission siwth specia conditions or even Damnation or look for a premade on Discord.

That said, i hate it when i end up in a group rushing malice leaving all ressources behind.
But if the whole group is this way i just leave as i dont fit into their team.

Remove all boxes
Add ammo dispensor +1 medipak + 1 ammo crate near every medicare station

And give us plasteel & diamantine as reward for killing enemies (normal, special, elite,bosses & hosts)

Less looting more focus on gameplay

My only suggestion is have empty boxes be open already.

My FOMO from a box keeps me opening them.

I agree, I feel they missed a big opportunity to present mats and medkits/ammo in a unique way, like a dead patrol had ammo in their pockets, or a dead ogryn is clutching to an ammo crate.

Agree. I’ve posted about this before but I would love an energy cell to act as a decision tool, similar to your “tactical” decision with side exploration, allowing the team to make a decision together and open a side path or power up a medicade station.

Agreed. its a slap in the face to have stuff lying around in contrast to empty boxes.

In first place having boxes spawning empty is dumb, all closed boxes should have something inside while the empty ones should be already open.

The issue is crates being fixed spawns:

  • Crate spawns should be randomized. (Not every crate should appear every mission.)
  • Every crate that does spawn should have something.
  • This shouldn’t necessarily affect total resources that spawn per map. (Meaning if fewer total things spawn on Damnation, then clearly fewer boxes should spawn too.)
  • Then apart from this if they want to adjust how many resources are on maps, they should be able to, but “every box should have something” should be a separate fix and should be done regardless of their decision.

Agreed, the overabundance of empty boxes makes exploring the level feel really unrewarding. There should also be a loot-crawl on the screen that lets the rest of the team know that they are getting free stuff when I’m taking a detour.

Disagree that every box should have loot, but the amount of empty boxes there are definitely does make searching more of a tedious experience than a proper risk/reward exchange for taking the time to search rooms.

Too much bloody ammo in some places already and you want to add more? And there is already plenty of crafting stuff in maps but people are too damn busy rushing to finish the run in 17 minutes to look for it all.

Besides, I happen to get a bit of a kick when an idiot random with plenty of ammo and grenades abandons a fight that is half done to go loot a chest and its empty. Of course now they’re out of coherence so much weaker, out of reach so no ready help, and surrounded. Watching that kind of idiot get smacked down by the consequences of their idiocy is very soothing to me.

Frankly I am getting a sense that its not Fatshark having to rush DT out that is the issue. Rather its that the posters here want Fatshark to not only cater to THEIR style of play, but to fix all the problems that are the fault of the players poor habits with mechanics fixes. And as any good troubleshooter knows, you can’t fix a people problem with technology.
