VT2 never takes control away from the player without a good reason. You got grabbed by a disabler ? Well shucks for you. Got your guard broken ? Should have dodged that overhead.
But in Darktide ? It’s like this was not made by the same devs.
If you have the audacity of using something that cannot snipe or suppress the dozens of beefed-up Ungor archers littering the maps, you get shafted so hard every time you try to leave cover. And that’s coming from someone who knows how to time dodges and slides to avoid weapon fire. That becomes impossible to do when you get stunned every 0.5 seconds because your toughness got melted instantly. This was supposed to be fixed in this beta ? What ?
It seems you think this is something you can easily avoid. Just use cover ! Except waist-high cover doesn’t protect you at all. Just go around them ! Except that’s not always possible, especially in the arenas and the events.
Even blocking melee swings is borked and sometimes leaves you stunned too, like you got hit instead ! In melee, stuns are also a thing, as if melee wasn’t risky enough. Getting hit by anything doesn’t just slow you down a little (like in VT2), it actually prevents you from blocking or switching weapons. And thus, you can get comboed by enemies even if you react and block the subsequent hits.
Temp HP doesn’t exist here…And there are very few ways to recover HP, unlike VT2. There’s no need to make taking HP damage even more punishing !
