Because he’s justly afraid of Fatshark listening to the vocal minority of tryhard that find it infuriating of someone actually having fun and not sweating like a pig.
The only person pointing out pick’s overtuned-ness is Ralendil and people who agree with him know the picks have terrible mobility and stamina management, the special is bleh, and the rest of Ogryn’s arsenal is very clearly in way worse (where is the stagger, Fatshark?)

Killing pick axes would just shove ogryns over to mk4. knives and shields almost exclusively, the balance is already doodoo, they need to make shovels and clubs better, and especially power maul. Again.

Well, tbh, I feel that shovels are really well balanced… But compared to pickaxes, I can’t see a reason to take them. Power maul, I agree totally that it is too weak.
But pickaxes, I find it a little too strong.
However, I would not qualify it as “totally overpowered”. For me, they are just a little too strong compared to others Ogryn’s weapons.
However, I have not even the idea to make a thread about this. And, to my knowledge, there is no such thread on this forum.
They should be nerfed, but what also should happen is the other ogryn melees should be buffed

Leave pickaxes alone. They are fun.
If anyone who complains about weapon strength is using gameplay mods then their opinion is null and void and I imagine most people who moan about the game being too easy are the ones who have mods to make gameplay easier.
Challenge should not come from being forced to use pool noodles. Enemies should do more damage - that is a better way to increase challenge whilst still giving the player the feeling of being strong/skillful (IE satisfying gameplay).

Balance has nothing to do with mods.
There are several ways to increase the difficulty.
I do not believe this one is the best. You want increasing damages, but if the enemies dies as fast they died before and can’t hurt yhou, where is the increase of difficulty?
Why not use a mod to make your own weapons weaker? Because no one uses mods to make the game more challenging. They choose mods to make the game easier (“more comfortable” IE easier). So don’t make the game easier then moan about it being easy. It’s pretty sound logic imo.
I’m not talking about UI/hub mods. Only gameplay mods.
In my opinion, Darktide’s November 2022-October 2023 Enemy/Player Balancing was just so much better.
Enemies were significantly fewer numerically, but each one felt individually threatening.
Weapon Balancing was roughly the same, as only a small handful of weapons were underperforming.
And where have you seen such mods? again!
You cannot modify weapons with mods. It would lead to an immediate ban.
Just turn off all your mods then you’ll likely get hit a few more times
But in all seriousness there is no way you don’t get hit at all in higher tier difficulties and if their hits did more damage you’d certainly notice it.
If you’re very skilled at the game from thousands of hours of playing then there is always going to be a challenge ceiling.
Yes this is a good and fun approach 100% imo.

Ok… Actually, that’s exactly why I want a solo mod.
I often play the game solo, just cause of too strong weapons.
They give me solo, good bots and believe me I won’t annoy you in your games.

I advice you to test mods… and start maelstrom missions in solo and see if the mods can help you to succeed. Excuse me… no not “can help” but “will make you never get hit magically”, as you seem to claim
You’re the one who suggested you don’t get hit…you literally said that in your last post and was what I was responding to. And you also use mods.
Look I don’t care if you use mods. Use all the mods you want BUT please do not make any comments on balance or difficulty unless you have played a reasonable amount of time in the current build with no gameplay mods active.
That is not a big or outlandish request - to simply play the game in it’s intended, unmodified form before making an opinion on balance. It’s a lot less “hysterical” than blindly defending mods as if they have no effect on gameplay or balance, which is absolutely ridiculous.
I haven’t played an obscene amount of Ogryn but I would be extremely surprised if pickaxe got nerfed. It hits very hard and has good cleave, but is also very slow. It’s a weapon that, in my opinion, takes skill to do well, but if you have that skill you can excel at the game. That’s how it should be in my opinion.
