for what its worth, I have since stopped using it and now write as I do, with all the grammatical errors and spelling mistakes as they come. Hope its better received.

isnt it the obligation of the reader, even more so by chosing a non-native language to communicate, to make himself at least somewhat fluent before engaging in a conversation?

even the fabled babelfish is rather promoting a certain laziness when it comes to “whatever, it translates for me anyways”

rarely as i do, whenever i visit another country, at least the basics are there in case someone isnt speaking english as a common denominator, so i can make myself understood and get what people want from me in return.

to me thats common courtesy when steeping foot in “their country”

additionally what taught me english certainly wasnt school apart from a small part grammar and a few bits of vocabulary.

it was escaping censorship and consuming purely uncut original movies and games. you learn more through pleasure than boredom or pain.

so confronting them with idioms may indeed be the best basis to teach them the nature and underlying dna of a language :man_shrugging:

plus you cant come out dumber at the end of the process then knowing the literal bullet had a paper encasing for the black powder part that indeed was often times bit open under the duress of a long wound reloading process :+1:

edit:

currently im getting the impression that people using A.I to do the thinking for them exclusively, in the long run, make it easier for those who use their own noggin to exploit and dominate them either at workplaces or in general.

to jump into submission so gleefully under the pretense of “removing chores” seems like putting on the collar yourself while whistling a cheerful tune :man_shrugging:

oh brave new world… all over again

Generally agreed with the topic though not exactly on the particulars. I understand the argument of AI meme images watering down human interaction, I just think it’s incorrect in practice. Most people who would post an AI meme pic would realistically not go learn how to create something with photo editing software if denied. They’d just not post an image at all or not respond.

I say this as someone who nowadays has pretty limited free time, often not in large chunks, and has zero skills or knowledge in photo editing, so it is definitely a biased assumption but I also think it’s a fair one, to say banning all AI images would not necessarily boost genuine interactions here.

It’s just a step too far for my tastes, but I appreciate that will vary fairly.

Best approach for that IMO is just a case by case approach. If it’s low effort/off topic it’ll probably be flagged and removed with the existing system anyway.

Kastelan robots: Hard to say that。

If it’s incorrect in practice, can you show me a single example of a post that was improved with AI imagery on this forum, that wouldnt have been better if it were made scuffed in paint?

Tbf, they have to to be given program on sites to change their directives, that’s what the Datasmith does.

I think you need to reread what I posted. Probably in full this time.

Good.

So you cant, okay.

Their loss. Look at this masterpiece I made with Image Toolbox on my phone in like 3 minutes.

Who needs AI when you can make slop like this in minutes with 0 experience in photo editing.

No, what you’ve “got” is a digital footprint.

it’s always funny when redditors leave their quarantine zone and then they post stuff like you

i dont see anyone screeching “reddit reddit” but you, the attempt at no u doesn’t work

this is the lowest iq attempt at a gotcha i’ve ever seen. you come in here complaining about reddit, you get told “just go back to reddit then” and suddenly it’s us talking about it?

and once again you’re seeing reddit everywhere
you should take some time off it, you’re seeing reddit in the trees at this point

imagine being such a quintessential asshurt redditor whiny baby who hates it there that you go to OTHER FORUMS TO DO IT

Do i really need to write case in point again

Also why did they have to change the way you can set users on ignore foreveeeeer

I’m talking about idioms and other colloquialisms, not the basics. Imaging asking someone ‘where’s the bathroom’ and they come back with some local idiom about a donkey and a fire hydrant. Guess you should have studied more?

I, personally, try to reduce my usage of language that is harder to translate to try and make this a more welcoming community for non-native English speakers. Sometimes, I use an LLM to find them so I can rewrite them out. It’s one of the few things LLMs are pretty reliable at doing.

For sure, and it’s gross. I am so sick and tired of having this AI poo pushed into everything. It’s a tool, and there are a few things they actually are useful for.

Ok, I’ll try to spell it out if you’re going to be this obtuse.

I never made any comment to suggest I don’t agree that would be superior. My point was this:

In other words, I think the assumption that silly AI made meme images would all be replaced with more charming scuffed paint images is flawed, in some or perhaps even many cases it just wouldn’t exist.

And on this note:

That’s a perfectly fair take, I wasn’t trying to convince anyone to be sympathetic, just pointing out that the assumption that an outright ban even to the extent of meme images would automatically upgrade those kinds of interactions seems pretty dubious to me.

Honestly I don’t really care enough about the right to post AI made memes to die on this hill, at this point I’m frankly just responding to not be (wilfully???) misinterpreted. Y’all have fun arguing :waving_hand:
