Bout time the Sisters of Battle let me join. I told them I’ll get my hair changed!
More seriously, this topic has been popping up since launch. There are clearly reasons why Fatshark won’t do it, or they would have by now. Likely its a GW thing (we don’t have tabletop models for them yet or whatever). Or its a Fatshark decision based on resources.
as much as warhammer pulled me in with the rich lore and grimdark stuff to enjoy, in that case i choose the later.
much like fallout 4 where i modded out any inconsistencies like the t-60 power armor pre war or fallout 76 altogether for the themepark it became, i enjoy its canon until new vegas fanatically and made my peace with a custom suited 4 that fits the established lore to a t.
for me to enjoy a game world, to the point i invest countless hours and money into, it needs that appeal of unvaning consistency to “be at home”
if something established for 30 years gets thrown overboard for real life issue points, i’m not having any of that crap in my favorite passtime.
fictious or not, by now its established “history” and shouldnt be brushed away to reflect the social stuff of the present time.
someone makes a historic show where african people make nobility in medieval britain? nope, not gonna watch.
you build a universe from scratch, go nuts, go lasereye unicorns for all i care.
but changing well fleshed out stuff for “change” sake is the moment my personal canon takes over.
There are, in fact, female Ogryns in lore. The name of the novel escapes me now but one of the characters gets hit on by a drunk female Ogryn in a bar.
You make a huge point right there mate, and something I never though to even realize and can;t forget now too…
I also picture lil Ogryns just curling up into balls, and rolling around as they play, king of makes me wanna recreate the picture of the Orc Father and his Children from the Art of World of Warcraft book (Which I do have) lol XD
If it makes you happy do, I used my app to create the anatomy of what a Female Space Marine might look like, just gotta outfit them with Custodes armor, and there lol XD
I know that sorry, she was either eyeing one of the Wolf Space Marines, or that Giga-chad Commissar, I can’t remember, but I know she was eyeing someone… 9_e
Well, GW “changed” their mind allegedly after Amazon buttered a piece of bread. They even edited the official wiki and restricted the editing rights on the article to their own team.
I think that to compare it to rewriting history is a stretch. It’s lore in a franchise, and while that is history in a literal sense, rewriting history brings up images of passages in history textbooks being altered, which is far more serious.
It not fitting in with the rest of the lore is fair critique. If they make changes, they should ensure they don’t contradict with other lore/the rest of the canon.
For what it’s worth, if distinction is desired, there’s more than one way to make female characters and male characters distinct. Body, face, and bone structure, voices, and to a limited extent, hairstyles and height, are all things that can be changed. A combination of these usually works best.
As for the ogryn models in the original post, I think the first two are fine, while the third likely wouldn’t move all that well in combat (if realism is the aim, which is up to whoever is reading and not to me). They all have kind of small heads compared to the male ogryn, even with the height difference taken into account.
I just wish they put in more effort than just giving it the old “Somehow, Palpatine returned!” treatment.
Put that together with the implication of the “we’re doing things differently now, if you don’t like it, f-off” stance they’ve taken in recent years (i.e, that anyone who disagrees with them, for any reason, is a bigot), and it really grinds the gears.
If this is true (and it’s a BIG if, since that rumour came from a 4chan post), my conspiracy brain tells me that the change probably happened because there will be female custodes in the amazon tv series that’s been floating around.
