Playable Female Ogryns

The flavour of lore is an acquired taste… It’s fine that you don’t like it @DiamondNova (evil Aryslav??).

I keep seeing this line thrown around, especially by you Skippy, and it’s just rage-bait. Just want to point out how inauthentic this argument is. Women are now present in the elite corps and y’all are just gonna have to get used to it :muscle:

It’s almost a guarantee that one of us has already unknowingly played with Cavill in DT, which is quite a fun thought :joy:

It got locked and unlocked already. This is going to be a masterpiece classic of the Fatshark forums, I already know it.

No, no it’s not, this is simply an argument used by people who know they can’t argue the point back. As it will usually reveal their double standards. One rule for one, one rule for another.

Lore changes to these people are okay as long as it goes one way.

There are factions in which gender is relevant - and there are those where it’s not.

Space Marines should stay male only - they are proud, thirst for conquest and glory. They react highly emotional and are driven by hatred. They also tend to be arrogant and strive to be above others. The emperor created them this way so they (re-)conquer the galaxy for him and for humanity - regular humanity.
If they had the option to procreate they would replace humanity in the long run. That’s why half the Astartes became traitors and why the Iron Warriors created the Daemonculaba - because there are no female astartes.
The sisters of battle are all female because the church is forbidden to have “men under arms”.

These two factions should absolutely remain “pure”.

Custodes are of a completely different breed - no ambition, far less emotional, next to no ego. They only live to fullfill the emperors will. That’s why they were unsuited to conquer the galaxy and why none of them fell to Chaos. And why female Custodians have a much smaller impact on the lore then female Astartes would.
In my opinion sisters of silence are all female only due to the rule of cool with no pressing lore reasons for the to be. (And the faction name wouldn’t work anymore ^^)
All male Ogryns are propably simply thus because GW didn’t bother to create female Ogryn models yet and don’t see a big market for them - as @dragomusic already pointed out.

Were female Custodians neccessary? no
Do they enhance the faction in a significant way? no

But does their inclusion change the character of the faction significantly? Also no
Do any novels/models or whatever “not work” anymore? I don’t think so…

That’s why I consider the retcon (which I don’t like by the way) a minor one in the history of 40k retcons and I really don’t get why some people are freaking out about this…

Coz Amazon want female bossing space marine captains around and telling men want to do. It’s all about are narcissism.

It was a change that was never needed, just in the same way that female orgyns in DT are not needed. Not to say that female orgyn’s don’t exist, coz they obviously do.

According to one youtuber with a clearly noticable political agenda - which seems like a pretty unreliable source to me. And female inquisitors can boss around space marine captains all day long - which a custodian btw cannot.

Yeah, because Amazon hasn’t got a track record with this.

If you’re talking about the Henry Cavill feature then no way would he allow lore change like that. And he’ll be an exec producer with heaps of clout. Pretty much all the clout tbh.

I’d be extremely surprised if they changed it.

how so?

i’ve only gotten into warhammer since darktide and love every bit of it.

given the fact that i have literal tons of original lore to dwell upon and catch up, i apply the same as my movie taste, arnie&co till the early 2000s and call it quits.

more than enough 80s action to go around and with streaming suggesting stuff i never had back in the day, i can even appreciate a good charles bronson. never knew there were so many “death wish” :skull:

you do you, i prefer my chicks hot and my dudes buff, not the other way round

This is different situation, as being a women is one of the core identities for SoB. Adding men there would moot this thing.
Similar thing with Space Marines, they are made as a brotherhood, so adding girls there, would ruin vibes.

There are factions where gender is relevant to their uniqueness, and thats fine.
Imperial Guard on the other hand, is defined as egalitarian in terms who they send to die fight. Ogryns are little more then just very wide and dumb guardsmen, not much more then that. There is nothig stoping women from beeing wide or dumb.

Not really turns out they come from partially literally medieval planets and they’re protective of their women and won’t let them get drafted. Just because you personally dislike that doesn’t mean it’s not established lore and a reasonable explanation for it.

Why is the argument for it just repeatedly “JUST IGNORE THE LORE. JUST IGNORE THE LORE. JUST ADD IT ANYWAYS.” but when it comes to sisters of battle it’s “actually the lore says that”

I thought it was because Ogryns come from Feral Death worlds? After the collapse of the Golden Age, humans on the worst worlds without significant tech evolved (somehow, don’t ask how) into Ogryns to survive, and function almost in a tribal or even animalistic way. Women are protected, because you need women to ensure the next generation of the tribe/pack survives, and that’s why they’re protected.

This doesn’t account for the random, if rare female Ogryns spotted outside of such occasions however, and it seems very possible that there are Ogryn communities in more urban settings for labor uses.

Fact: Ogryns are the ultimate crabform of human evolution.

not all ogryn come from feral worlds. there’s ogryn communities in many industrial worlds (like atoma, apparantly) on some worlds just because they were ported in for construction, and a handful of places where they were introduced to populate a deathworld.

Being all female is a difining part of the Sororitas identity. Being all male is (to me) a defining part of the Astartes identity.

Being all male is not a defining part the Ogryns identity. I’ve read several codices of the Militarum and several novels that included Ogryns - and none mentioned that they are all male because male Ogryn forbid female Ogryn to join the Militarum. I don’t say that this snipet of lore doesn’t exist somewhere - I just say that it’s nothing very important. If GW decided to sell Femgryn models they would retcon this without hesitation. And this could even be done more elegantly then “there have always been female ogryns in the imperial guard” - it could be “though originally very protective of their females, by now the Ogryns live on so many different planets and there are so many different Ogryn societies that their conduct concerning this matter varies”.
Once again:
Needed? No
“Breaking the lore beyond redemption?” Also no

There is literally lore that states they wont give out the women though. Plus evidently they actually get their way since ogryn females are not seen. How is that not a defining part of their lore and society? If it wasn’t then why would it be a male only representation in the imperium?

I get that they COULD invent new lore or rewrite/retcon/outdate old lore to make it happen. To what benefit though? Just to make em more uniform with all other things? it’s lame

holy emperor of mankind, u’d better not do that

Does that mean Female Ogryns are like the Purple Orks then? Lol XD

I’m not saying why they MUST be added. I’m say why they MIGHT be added.

I’ve search the internet, and I couldn’t find any official mention mention of this “males are to protective” idea. Not on wikis, neither on forums, nor on official pages.
Give us the source of that, or stop using this made up argument.

In official sources, there are at least two ogryn females mentioned, and 0 times anything that would prohibit more of those anywhere.
