I think there was a genuine argument both ways at one point, IMO since most of our regen is % based these days and insta toughness break from fire is long gone it’s no contest in toughness’ favour with the one caveat being bursters, your mileage will vary on how high you rank those as a threat.
I’d probably throw 1 stamina curio on before I put a HP curio on but that’s me. I’m sure there are still HP curio fans holding the line on that debate, but the best answer is probably to experiment with a mix of both and see what feels best to you.
Do you use surge voidstrike without making effective use of the guaranteed crits after 5 headshots?
If you use that talent and headshot properly, i am pretty sure that a plasma gun can not compete at all, when fighting hordes of enemies.
Spamming plasma at hordes is usually not too effective and it will also make you run out of ammo.
Melee weapons are generally better at killing hordes, than the plasma gun is.
When it comes to removing single enemies that the plasma gun can 1 shot kill, it will outperform your voidstrike though.
Obviously.
It seems to me that the rub is, as other people have pointed out in the past, the frustrating notion of competing for elite/specialist kills on a co-op game.
Sliding more than once in a row isn’t cheesing if every class can do it. It’s just a basic game mechanic that every player should know and be fluent in every bit as much as dodging is.
or this with true aim, warpfire does little if you don’t go for all the perks, plus you don’t need it with void, same thing with assail, you don’t need its mods if you just spamming void
for bosses you can just use your chainsword special now if you feel brave, if not you better off with knife or saber and just go ham with void
And this is irrelevant as they aren’t playable on the same class and don’t even compete for the same targets and that remains true even if there’s overlap. I understand that wont stop either player from trying to take those targets out but still.
Plenty of other things explain this too. Causality =/= correlation.
I’ve had plenty of games in which I did more damage and got more kills than a vet on plasma gun so there’s that too. I will not go find those scoreboards as that was potentially eons ago, I hope that’s understandable.
Just to be clear I’m not advocating chaining slides because “delicious infinite stamina you must exploit”, I’m advocating it because it’s a basic game mechanic that every player should know and use when appropriate. Slides put you in a dodge state, this allows you to advance under fire without dying, or escape from and kite enemies that are directly on your heels. Both scenarios that occur several times in the video linked in the OP.
An actual cheese would be something like zoomie knife zealots who can just about double their land speed without needing to slide at all.
Perso, I really think that Voidstrike is too strong.
I can accept that psykers should be sort of damage dealer, so weak but high DPS. That’s ok for me. But, seriously the void strike is really too strong.
I would agree that plasma guns are short on ammo (but still I have seen incredible damages dealt), but void strike has not even that…
No ammo needed. And you can chain light hits.
