It works perfectly fine with taking out specials,it shots past cover and past hordes, you can get your wanted special even if they behind some enemies, and with right perk the reloading isnt an issue,as you can always resort to your ps big swings to kill the hordes once specials dead
The real problem I see with plasma is its limited ammo usage and
with it huge ammo consuming potential
It may become a big drawback for the whole group if you have a lot of ammo hungry weapon users
It’s the fact that you have to balance heat and very limited ammo for very little payoff. Yes you can presto deleto that crusher in 1-2 shots but other options are faster or more ammo efficient. I don’t remember who said it, I wanna say ItalianSpartacus on YT, but if the Plasmagun didn’t have ammo but was more focused on its heat management with a proper ammo regen baked in, it would feel like a better gun.
True that, but then it will just become a psyker staff in the form of a gun, maybe perhaps even a superior version of what we have with voidstrike because the absurd damage it is capable to do to carapaced enemies
Saying that,I feel plasma being good in my own experience because Kantrael-bolt-plasma are the only 3 guns I feel confortable with my unfamiliared vet.Maybe skill issue but still it feels this gun blasts
And why would that be a problem?
In vermintide 2 for example, the ironbreaker has 2 weapons that use the heat mechanic of the sorc staffs.
The Starfire bow and the sister of the thorn staff, use a similar system as well.
These weapons technically have unlimited ammo and that game is not even nearly as ranged focused as this one is.
It works pretty good as a heavy sniper weapon. People get hung up on weird little details on how things work and chuck them in the bin too quickly.
Because first it is unrealistic that a plasmagun dont need any form of baterry to fuel it,or even worse, lore breaking, because if the version made for spacemarines does have to refuel it why a version made for mortals sudden doesnt need to?Remember this is warhammer 40k and GW is more restricted about how this IP being used(partialy the reason why you have so broken powersword)
Second,it will rend voidstrike staff less effective in a comparation, and this will lead to------as obviously to see----power creep. The comunity will cry the unfair threatment which in that case will be real towards voidstrike staff and ask for a buff.I am a semiprofessional world of tank players for yrs and participated in varies tournaments and leagues and I will firmely telling you that F powercreeps.Yes Fatshark have a fame to constantly tweak stuff but why trying to solve a problem if in the first place you can just dont fabricate that problem?
And people like you only caring about(how much I can kill)clearly dont know what a huge benefit it is here in DT about being ammo free.
You clearly doesnt noticed that DTs combat system is total diferent and an innovation against VT2s melee-focused braindead enemies. The only thing VT2 has an upperhand in game mechanic are bosses, otherwise DT is superior in all its forms.
Third, though myself was 600hrs through vt2(mainly sienna fireball/headseeker staff, occasionaly footknight),I dislike and have a disrespectful feeling to people who constantly bring up other tide series mechanic into comparation of DT.I dont want a copypost vt2 in its 40k form,if you want play vt2,go play vt2,I am bored of that and want to see something new and inspiring.Oh…vt2 has this vt2 has that…ok,then there is the door.I could be harsh here but it is what it is
Just,I am a wh40k fan and Im here for wh40k,not because it is in some ppls eye (vt2++),and it should never become a vt2++
Also had to mention that some systems in vt2 isnt the fruit of inspiration but the fruit of lazyness, you think two weapon use the same system?haha, its because they think change weapon texture and animation while adopting the existent system is more cheap
If we want to tweak the overheating system,my opinion would be we make it (random chance explode). We could roll a d100 and explode only at 1,which,being not as harsh as tabletop it is still a reflection of what we have in the lore.Take of the needing of recharging, leave ammos be but by that you will never need to recharge, and make the manual venting faster, while has a posibility to damage your hp(which is not always like what we have now).By this,it wont become too powerful neither will looks strange comparing to what we have in the lore.
And it is fast to react I had noticed
You see sniper, you pull out your bolter and the sniper already shot once
With plasma you just instakill it if you can aim well
With the right damage breakpoints, build and blessings, it appears so. No luck for me yet with gear. drops
It’s fun, at times, but it’s SLOW.
I really tried using the plasma gun but found other options were just better.
The problem arises when you have multiple critical targets. It doesn’t take a (slow) plasma gun to take out half the elites, so time is wasted cooling after a few (slow) shots (which might be jostled, blocked, suppressed, etc.). And it can drop you by overheating.
I suggest trying the bolter next. Excellent damage, good range, and satisfying. I still like using this.
But I went from those to the Kantrell MG XII Infantry Lasgun. Excellent damage, great accuracy and range, faster firing than either of the above, and no ammunition problems. You will find this drops things faster than either the plasma or bolter.
With two better weapons, the plasma is, at best, a B tier weapon.
I have a 380 plasma rifle but my blessing is completely trash hahahha
Can you one shot ogryns?
yeah, when multiple critical targets shows up it is slow
Thats why I learnt that target priority is very important, for example, kill sniper/bomber/then kill an elite, reload, kill the rest.I used to kill more than 1 elites and I found I wasted 30% reload speed haha
Kantrael XII is unargueable king of all guns now xd
