Perfect Time to Honor a 30 Month Old Promise

I’m sure I’m not the only one who read the notes about the free update and thought: “Now would be a perfect time to introduce a proper solo mode instead of forcing players to rely on Mods or frustrating work arounds to play the game the same way they play every other game in this genre!”

Specifically, I’m referring to this section:

Launching alongside the Arbites Class DLC on June 23, Darktide will receive a free update designed to offer a more structured narrative experience for new players as well as a rework on difficulty progression and selection

• Improved onboarding and narrative experience:
  • A curated mission path will guide new players through Tertium, introducing key characters, locations, and threats across escalating difficulty tiers.
  • Missions will feature increased story context, with debriefs showcasing the impact of strike teams across Tertium.
  • Seasoned players will be offered the option to re-experience the improved story of Darktide from the start.
• Changes to difficulty progression and selection:
  • Introducing a reworked difficulty progression system: players will now unlock higher difficulties by demonstrating skills, not just by leveling up. Progression will be tied to completing a number of missions at your current difficulty, rewarding mastery over time played.
  • Mission board changes: all missions currently in rotation will now be available at every difficulty level. This update significantly broadens the mission selection for players at any tier, offering greater variety and more meaningful choice when deciding how (and where) to fight.

With a pseudo campaign mode, more story context, difficulty progression changes, and the inclusion of every mission for every difficulty. Now’s a perfect time to add solo mode so us solo players can experience all of this at our own pace and in a way we enjoy. The best part? They just improved the bots for Vermintide 2’s solo players, yet those of us who want to play Darktide Solo are scorned and shunned by Fatshark. I’d rebuy the game and the dlc class in a heartbeat if Solo Mode was included in this update, so why are you still refusing to take my money? Solo players aren’t diseased and my money should be just as valuable to you as any PUG enjoyer’s, but you still refuse to do the bare minimum of what’s expected in this genre!

I got a bit side-tracked there, but ultimately just wanted to point out how perfect of an opportunity Fatshark has to introduce Solo w/ Bots with this update. I guess I’ll continue getting my fix from Vermintide until Fatshark gets their head out of their asses with Darktide.

Fatshark needs to own up. Explain why Solo Mode vanished, why they lied about it, and what they’re gonna do.

I really hope that the system is not to FORCE players to repetitively play a mission to be able to access next difficulty.
Because of these reasons:

• This is totally dumb, stupid and completely out of the real concerns of players (we asked that the story make sense, so this part is welcome… but not sure about the difficulty progression)
• This is, again, a retention try. And we all know that EVERYTHING they do about that, is a failure and leads to frustration for players

And yes a solo game mode should be here… I am tired of waiting for that… Really.

Absolutely agreed. Its the one big issue from launch still hanging over their heads. At the very least just explicitly say “It ain’t happening.” so we can move on.
