Why do people do this? Is it a troll? Are they total noobs? Drunk?
Too many hours in Vermintide to not be a bit bothered, so if it’s a troll it’s working. But many times I arrive at a med station, there’s 3 or 4 pips on it, and someone drops a portable med pack right in front of it. And it’s not because they are full. Just now had to go into a boss fight with 3 scripts and no meds because meds guy dropped the meds in front of the med station by the elevator… which had three pips.
Yes, people are dumb, always has been.

Hmm you should not nead medkit on that ,mission even on damnation… if you are not dumb trolling & going all team melee on boss… there should be 1 person taking agro & second i backup if that person does stupid thing like take charged hits from boss or go to far & change the boss stance from melee to ranged… but that’s always on player side fault.

… hmm maybe they grabbed ammo box that overall is a lot more useful of course depending on team & how that team is performing.
You know I rather use a “unreliable at some situations” medkit than healing station especially at places where you can go back to the healing station… why ? because medstation heals injuries from corruption & if I can “save” the uses on medstation I rather save those than medkit… if you nead medkit it mostly means that you sqrewed up or your team is to dumb to cooperate & look after each other.
It depends on many things & you should probably be wary of those…that is thinking ahead.
also I sometimes also drop medkits even before stations that people dont waste charges in them because some of them are just stupid & would use charge that maybe someone else neads more & I do that as precaution[like on grim maps you should first let the really low health bar left person use it[especially if they got curios with injuries] but priority always take grim holders.
Whatever… I dont gonna write more as I really dunno what was the situations where you happened to see people drop those & it could be trolling especially on lower difficulties like 1/2//3 
Normally I see people do it a room or a corridor away from med stations. When I ask/tell them about the med station just ahead, they usually apologize and say they didn’t know or think about it.
Yeah sometimes it’s just not knowing the layout of the map 
…anyways I rather have ammo box than medkit ammo box full ammo replenish with 4 uses.
medkit unreliable as they tend to lose “charge” after putting on ground in some “temacomps” or it is bug… I rather would say it’s bug as if Fatshark can’t properly write how they work[if they heal fixed amount of hp & go “off”] like many things right now then I rather say it’s bug.
From the behavior I’ve seen I assume they only heal a set amount of total HP then turn off, but I’m not 100% on that.
Yeah I think the same[especially when you played a lot like 1/3 of my hours as ogryn] but if they at FS can’t put a proper explanation to the mechanics of items in game[because they’re lazy/yes lazy as per say it is not much work & would really be appropriate by most of people]… I “said” it’s a bug just because it’s their usual way of doing things… dont answer most questions = buying time from a reply to repairing the bug or they just don’t know the answer[& that can be ok when we talk about technical issues but not about in game common things like this one that should be explained in tutorial or in meat grinder or even when you hover above the thing like you hover above medkit that can be picked & it would say it heals 300hp total , ammo box after placing also should have the number of charges remaining like 2/4 etc. but what they can do if they cant even place a properly working game in the shop]
Speaking of ammo crates, one that drives me crazy is people taking ammo out of a crate while they’re still near their full ammo count and yet we’re dug in near the crate so they could have waited until they were out of ammo and fill up entirely. Wasteful!
That seems to be the case in my experience.
yesterday was playing ogryn & had ammo box… we had second boss spawning in like fev minutes after encountering the first & I said i will place ammo box for this one & we dont nead to worry about ammo… yes… I literally shoot all of my ammo that I had left & literally was robbed of my charge by a sharpshooter that used my charge on replenishing his lasgun from white to white ammo?? maybe 50-70 shots worth[like he used it second time for topping the ammo… when I was shooting last 30 ammo on the nearby trash & wanted to replenish after that]?
Usually you dont see that happening on heresy & damnation & that was Damnation…
But don’t worry! I blown him up with barrel into a place where he belonged… he wasn’t that useful anyway^ more like parasite^
It is really hard to estimate whether the players not picking up the ammo are saving the crate for later, don’t care for ammo or are just idiots. Your case illustrates an occasional mistake by the player picking up ammo, but IME the number of people who simply cannot be bothered to refill the ammo is quite high. And they never want to go back, not even 10 m, even when they are near the end of their supply.
