Penetration & Ogryn backsides

Was wondering does anyone know how much penetration a weapon has to shoot through a friendly Ogryn, or what affects what they can and can’t block?

Like I notice my Plasma gun & Voidstrike staff going right through them but ballistic weapons’ fire seem to be completely stopped even the Braced Auto which can normally penetrate a few mobs. Normal staff bolts as well seem to go through them just fine. Not that I make it a habit of shooting my mates in the back of course, just trying to understand how it works.

I don’t think it has anything to do with cleave, it’s probably a flag they set for each projectile since staff bolts don’t cleave but they pass through teammates.

Some cleaving guns penetrate, but it doesn’t feel consistent. Sometimes it goes through, sometimes it doesn’t. Honestly Ogryns should be zero hitmass for friendly guns, considering the… tendency Ogryn players have to not only walk in front of friendly, but also walk and stop so the friendly is inside them.

While there is no friendly fire, there should be at least collision enabled.

As an Ogryn, I try really hard to be aware when my team is shooting me in the back. I tend to always try and slide to the side so tehy have a clean shot path. It’s not always possible, but I strive to do it where possible. I think all bullets should pass right on through us.

I think that might be worse in the long run not better. Imagine ogrynbro’s fat angus parked in the door you want to go through.

Yeah, you’re right… Uh, it’s horrible.

Sorry for the offtopic comment but. . . I’d like to point out that’s one unfortunate combination of words for the topic title OP.

Our backsides are Impeta… Imepcha… Tough!

Pretty much given up on trying to play considerately as an Ogryn. One-too-many Veterans out there who complain non-stop about ogryns fighting melee hordes and melee elites in tight corridors or veterans who refuse to position anywhere besides the center of the room being mad the melee guy is doing melee things.

Probably different regions, but when I played Ogryn the only person I got complaints from was my vet main friend (just part of game banter obviously) I even got complimented for good positioning once which felt nice. I think it’s important to be smart, if not considerate, with your positioning still, and stay behind your team during shooting heavy segments until a big horde or some big enemies show up.

Obviously if it’s a tight position in melee and the vets are complaining they’re being dumb, they should either help with nades, going into melee, or watching for behind spawns.
