I’m in the camp that thinks that the guaranteed ranged crits was a bit too much. Especially on Bardin. I find Ranger Bardin perfectly viable and enjoyable to play without it.
For skilled players, I agree. I think it was better with the guaranteed crits though as it made the classes more accessible and helped them keep pace with better DPS classes.
The Krube just can’t catch a break.
Agree! Bardin gets a fairly long amount of stealth, during which he can attack both ranged AND melee without breaking stealth. Even without guaranteed crits you can still lay down some serious damage during that time. It’s also super useful in those “oh sh**” situations where you just need to lose aggro fast.
Needs moar peeps standing up to those who flagrantly peddle BS and demand nerfs for characters who don’t need them, sadly.
My thing is, Disengage has some really strong level 25 talents for its cooldown, duration and what it does.
- The standard lowering its cooldown by 30%, down to a minute 24.
- Increasing it’s duration to 14 seconds, which is actually pretty strong in its own right.
- 20 HP upon activating.
Last one isn’t that great in the grand scheme imo, but health is health.
In the end, the ranged crit was unintentionally implemented before, so I’m for it being taken out under that explaination. But now we can move the discussion to if it should actually be implemented intentionally.
Even though I see the ranged crit being too strong to be baseline, I’d be willing to accept it as a talent. Most likely replacing the 20 health talent. Then it leaves a tactical decision between ranged crit in the cloud, lower career skill cooldown and increased career skill duration. With that, I’d say we have us a pretty thought invoking talent row.
Looks like a solid patch all around. Good fixes (if they actually happened), good balance changes.
If something turns out weak, it can be intentionally changed.
Never used Krubers Active for ammo recovery, it’s a rare minute I wasn’t topped up anyways whenever I played him - but true, I barely used that active. It was boring.
I wonder if the Warpick has a niche now.
So you’re telling me, that existence of a very big and obvious bug, that was first seen in 1.0.8 beta 3 weeks ago and been reported and discussed on the forum dozens of times, made it to live in 1.0.8 2 weeks later and got fixed 1 week and 2 patches later, despite the warm reaction of the community - is a fine explanation to you?
Not to me. It shows either how busy FS are at best, or how bad their code/community interaction is at worst. Or both.
At least 1.0.8.2 brought yet another bug, that will keep Ranger viable until next patch. And at least people report, that ghost strikes have been finally fixed, thank god!
I suppose that instead of “explanation” I should have used “reasoning”. Point being that if it’s not supposed to be there then I have no qualms with it being removed. If it’s been such a long spree for them to fix it, then I won’t shield them for that, still doesn’t mean I can’t be fine with it being fixed.
Can not not agree with that. If FS think that’s a bug - they should remove it, no matter how much time has passed. Still doesn’t mean, that I support the fix.
Same. Focus should be on what’s fun and balanced. If something isn’t working as desired, I’d rather see a change that has the goal of keeping the balance while addressing the perceived issue. What we sometimes get is a big nerf followed by buffs, which takes bloody forever and is, I find, alienating.
take the 2ammo on HS + conservative shooter trait, it’s much better for ammo conservation. rather on rely for RNG to fill your ammo box, every aimed headshot will grant 3 ammo. huntsman is actually pretty darn good at ammo regeneration actually.
and i don’t agree with your statement that longbow is the only viable choice - handgun builds are extremely effective especially since they deal with shieldvermins so well (pretty sure there was a large QQ thread about shieldvermins lol) but of course, your aim has to be good.
Compared to other classes with high damage ults it is much more balanced. You can still kill 2 CW during his ult while Shade, BH, and Pyro can only kill 1.
That’s not true, Shade can not only kill two of their close but her CD is much faster, BH has better CW removal from active abilities, and Pyro has a much faster CD (though not a guaranteed CW kill).
Output relative to CD, he should be doing more.
nup, u can’t do this consistently, they need to be somewhat damaged and in a proper spot, and you have to move to an ideal position to take them out.
in that time when you are moving around trying to set up for the double strike, the huntsman has already killed two or more chaos warriors and is whittling down the rest.
it’s understated, but it’s prolonged heavy RANGED dps. BH only kills 1, sienna’s ult is rng. imo it’s good.
In a vacuum I’d agree but looking at the big picture, he just isn’t as good or as easy to use as other ranged classes. If the only thing he’s got going for him compared to other ranged DPS is a (boring) crit aura and getting to kill a few CW a lil harder than normal, I don’t think he’s terribly well balanced. Even in 1.0.8, people weren’t flocking to him despite his potential because he was still only as good, at best, as other less annoying to play classes and he’s still just kinda boring.
eh, not my experience, good kruber players were smashing it up really crazy in 1.0.8. if you seen what i seen them do, you would definitely change your mind.
oh by the way, i’m just talking about regular weapon and positioning, not even the ult usage. so the new patch wouldn’t affect my view
My friend you can literally go to a different area of these forums and find a poll wherein huntsman is 3rd to last in terms of popularity out of all careers. He was never a “thing” until literally a few days ago because he had an incredibly niche role and was hard to use for most people. After the changes to damage calculations he was doing 4 times the damage he used to be able to produce with simple bodyshots…THIS is what broke him. It had nothing to do with the hero and one usually had to play incredibly well to top stat. If you didnt have that green circle for headshots 9 times out of 10 you also wouldnt have damage.
actually there have been many threads about the viability of huntsman way before 1.0.8 broke him. i’m not talking about his buggy ultimate, just about regular gameplay.
the poll for most popular hero does not equate to how powerful the class actually is. in that same poll, pyromancer is 5%, and yet people all over the forums keep debating on how OP she is etc etc etc. (i don’t agree, i feel she’s in a good spot right now balance wise)
fact of the matter is, even before 1.0.8, he had the ability to one shot stormvermin and most specials. if you are saying that you have to play incredibly well to top stat… that goes without saying for ANY class.
anyway yea, the 1.0.8 patch broke him to be overpowered, and now he’s been balanced back, have yet to try the changes.
He’s not been balanced ‘back’, he’s been taken to lower performance than on release. He’s not back to 1.07 performance, if that’s what you think.
