Yeah and it took them several months just to get this out, so it’ll probably be another several months before they say what the changes to the crafting system are even going to be, let alone release it.

I was kinda hoping “path to redemption” was gonna be a joke about the sorry state of Darktide and Fatshark trying to redeem themselves, but I guess this works too.
will it this time have an “opt in” design or work the same way as the twins hardmode ?
while i enjoyed it the first few times i didn´t bother much after that because the majority of teams i stumbled upon either didn´t have a clue about the mode itself or weren´t willing to participate, resulting in a less than motivating string of attempts.
or does it have the option to stray from the team to pull a lever and do the stuff yourself briefly if someone wasn´t willing to tag along ?
like the relics in deathwing ?

while i´m optimistic about the dreg bomber as an addition, i was rather hoping for some nurgle enemies that were straying from the rock scissor paper pattern we already have.

Player count is low, no doubt. It’s been lower though, and I’ve personally never had issues getting groups. Just like VT2.
And just like VT2, the updates are slow and surprising but they keep coming.
My 2 cents on player count: FS needs to release solo mode. Lots of people want it (including me), it’d go great with these new things to earn, I imagine many players would buy premium cosmetics to gussy up their alts (even if they don’t play those classes often), and the folks who sweat player numbers would be happy (?).

Kinda cool, but is there anything new new besides the dreg bomber? Like the Moebian 6th helmet for Ogryn without buying sounds like something cool to grind towards but we’re all looking for more. More locales to smash in, more weapons to smash heretics with. Most tangible content of all…

Thinking it over, it’s pretty clear this is a ‘we wanted to have this on release but failed’ sort of situation. It’s a VT2-style feature with a NPC that was in the game from the start, finally being turned on by the five interns who are the current active dev team.
It’s not a slap in the face. It’s just them shambling slowly towards a 1.0 product since their management has probably decided to shove all their resources towards a new game.
The more you think about it the less it actually is.
Penance rework
I mean it’s cool we are finally getting an update to the cosmetics earning but I’m basically in “wait and see” mode for this. I think the big factor for this will be how much is going to be filler cosmetics and how much will actually be things we want.
Puzzles, challenges and collectables
That’s cool, anything to freshen up the existing maps a bit. I’m also still in “wait and see” for this but it makes it at least something new to do.

Presently surprised to see a community suggesting join the roster. Going to probably change up encounters quite a bit on higher end difficulties. I guess we will need to wait and see how the gas effect manifests.

Overall it’s nice that we are getting at least something but I’m tempering my expectations till I see the full release.
If it resembles it’s usage in the fight with the twins it should be fine. But it’s a way more nurgle way of fighting than fire

Dreg Tox Bomber has been withheld since launch, the guy who runs the damage calculator had it (and the tox ogryn for those wondering what the next monstrosity will be) in there for a while before removing it because obviously we can’t fight them anyway.
The first content drop in 2024 is almost ready, one more to go
