Crazy I know but: Theres actually more than one concept for f2p gaming out there.
People want to play for new stuff they actually wanted.
Since release Fatshark constantly developed “content” and patches no one asked for or content that was paid which simply wasn’t content at the cost of features such as real cosmetics and dedicated servers they promised at launch. The Vermintide one DLC’s all had a few, nicely done and interesting maps in locations that actually felt and looked different with a real backstory.
V2 had Bögenhafen, which was Stromdorf reloaded, which was Ubersreik reloaded looks wise but at least had some plot.
Back to Ubersreik which isn’t content but only old maps ported into the new game with “because magic lol” plot.
And the weaves which were at least a new game mode but didn’t work at all with tedious grind and again just a rehash.
Cataclysm, aka altering numbers in the spawn habit and lifepoints shouldn’t be payed content at all. Especially not tied to such a disastrous DLC as WoM was and while suppressing the modding community.
V1 also had different cosmetics, not just reskins. For free.
The whole community constantly asked for new maps, cosmetics, better mechanics, bugfixes, mods, performance and much more but what they released was a not functioning new game mode with reset of the hundreds of hours of mind numbing grind inbound that was meant to change the concept of their (again not even finished) game from koop to somewhat competitive. Do they even have a goddamn controlling? Did the marketing collectively trip on acid for a week? I don’t know.
That’s why people don’t want pay anymore. Especially not in advance to fund future “development” of god knows what instead of just sticking with new maps, new weapons, new [insert thing actually related to game here].
You should refrain from using no one ask for, when actually people asked for. Beastmens were asked. PvP was asked. An end game was asked. A new difficulty was asked. This is 90% of WoM. Not counting Leaderboards (that I didn’t see any asking).
Lohner’s shop was indeed asked for thoses who wanted to have their illusions / hats without depending of luck.
Now on dedicated servers, I really think you want to emphasize on the ONE feature that is not there. But it won’t really change a lot.
Well, they also had bad maps.
No.
Yes. But still content though.
They’re far better now. They were in a wonky state at release. That’s still content.
Yeah, because everyone can alter number and spawns, that’s not even work at all ! Take that Level Designers.
kof kof
So 3 dlc are composed of new maps and cosmetics.
Better mechanics ? What ?
Bugfixes we’re still needing them, but it will never be “done”.
Mods I think they’re still working on the SDK release but they did prioritize saving the game instead.
The whole ‘future content’ feel like cake tomorrow. We’ve got to take it on face value something is actually going to materialise., and that it will be high quality. I’d rather pay for high quality stuff now through map/weapon DLC than the very limited hats we’ve got.
I understand the whole reasoning behind this cosmetic store, but we’re pinning our hopes on a company who have spectacularly underdelivered in the life of the game so far - right back to launch not even having cleave and stagger working. At all.
Most games that have cosmetics sell as a package deal. A full outfit for less than what V2 is selling for one hat.
This is my complaint.
I honestly cannot tell if you simply have trouble reading or are one of those people who blindly opens your wallet not thinking about what you’re actually getting for your money.
I bought all the DLCs for V2 but I am not paying for these shoddy looking underdeveloped cosmetics for the price they are selling for since it does not include a matching shoddy looking underdeveloped skin for that price.
They all have weird clipping issues lol This is what we’re paying for??? Yeah, no thank you!
He is just saying it wouldnt do any harm to compare multiple games instead of just choosing a game that fits your argument, no need to attack the person.
What about the 20 dollar elephant clown outfit in dead by daylight.
So you are ok putting strong weapons, a higher difficulty, purple weapon reskins and maps behind a paywall and actually buying them, from which some dlc’s were also underdevelopped.
But you have a problem with free content and optional cosmetics which don’t change anything to your gameplay experience (except if you are scared of pigs).
The only problem that someone here mentioned is that if they did kind off a bad job with paid dlc’s, who knows the free content will be better and they won’t just focus all their attention on cosmetics. But right now we don’t know that yet, so how can you find this a bad thing, it might turn out very positively or it might be worse, but untill then we don’t know.
I read perfectly well thank you very much. Perhaps you should put a bit more effort into picking up on the tone of a comment. I wasn’t attacking you by suggesting that other games should also be compared, it just gives us a wider range of information so we can trust the data a little more.
As mentioned by @anon75893681, this one game that you have chosen to compare it to could simply fit your argument. I would be happy to agree with you if you would provide a list of a few more games. Others in the comments have provided some which seem to suggest otherwise but the more information the better.
I never comment with intent to start an argument. Just here to kill some time and talk about a game I enjoy playing. Would prefer if we kept the personal attacks to a minimum .
Than just don’t buy them. I don’t see where the issue is. The complaint only makes sense if you want to say: “Give me more for the money. I want to have more. More. More.”
Not spending money is a perfectly suitable choice.
Other than that, I have said it before. The pricing is not as much different to several other games:
And before you come with “But these are whole body costumes and bla” remember that there is no customization. So if you (and all the rest of the community) are okay with your shoddy hat being irreversibly tied to a shoddy skin, we can talk. But again, just don’t spend the money if you don’t want to. There is no issue here.
And again, these are meant to be support. I have asked a question above which got ignored. These are ideally meant to give some free updates from time to time while other games sell these cosmetic DLCs for games which are already finished in development.
You can wait a 75% sale and buy them all if you want at a discount, compared to me that bought it all at 100% price. I had way more hours of this game than nearly every other game in my library (and will probably go beyond even TF2 someday), I don’t mind supporting them and getting awesome hats in the process.
This model actually works great, but … the company needs to deliver great product, consistently and communicate well. Neither of those are true when it comes to Fatshark.
For example I’m like 1000$ in, or prolly more, when it comes to POE and support via MTX packs etc. And it’s not because I’m being abused or predated (if that’s even a word) by GGG.
It’s because I play the game and usually I’m thinking “Holy sh-t, this is amazing, what they did” or like this latest league/expansion … I still can’t fu-kin believe what they delivered. It’s starting to get so good that it’s hard to believe.
And I want to support that, I want that to continue.
I’d be happy to do the similar thing with VT2, but here devs doesn’t seem to give a sh-t about literally anything… from performance, over combat tweaks to the balance of the game.
It’s not passion for them the way I see it, it looks like 9-5 job where you do just bit here bit there, slack a little and off you go home and work goes out of your mind… that’s the difference between this and POE.
If anyone watches Chris or Jonathan talk about POE, you can see it’s not 9-5 thing… it’s something they are passionate about, which is most probably why the end result is so good.
