As far as weapon stats go, there is a summary damage number for people who don’t want to think too hard and then there is the inspection window for people who love thinking hard.
Can’t make it much more user-friendly than that.
But the thing is also that weapon stats are this way because all the people who wanted to do less math in VT2. You can look it up from the earliest days of the DT wing of this forum. One of the biggest complaints vocalized on here was that they felt the breakpoint system required them to do math homework. There was a very easy-to-use, fan-made damage calculator for those motivated to use it, but that wasn’t what they wanted. Some of the more popular suggestions were for randomized enemy health on a per unit basis or randomized damage on a per swing/shot basis or even both at the same time. Maybe it could have worked but it seems like a lot more opportunity for RNG to bone you over.
Instead they went with another popular suggestion: randomized damage on a per weapon basis. Still the case but now that’s pretty limited because getting a max 80% roll is trivial. Because it turned out most people didn’t like that system. It was either a case of the squeaky wheel getting the grease and it was just a very vocal minority (the people who were largely quite happy with VT2 obviously didn’t flood the forums to vent their grievances) or they were the casual types who played to level 30 and then considered the game “beaten” and are no longer with us.
So we already got where we were trying to appease the “don’t wanna think hard” crowd. I think the summary number is all the more they need. If your "friends’ " complaints are that they got in over their heads when they dive in the deep end, there’s not much that can be done for them.
