Odds are you can set the Lua heap limit to 2gb and spare yourself the pain.

Add the 1 to 2gb Lua heap switch to launcher settings, this helps with many if not most of the “Out of memory errors” that are Lua related, e.g. large inventory management and crafting. With the recent crafting stuff with or without mods, giving users the options to set a range of 1gb to 2gb in the launcher settings would go a long way.
