I get the same thing lately, the first message says something like it could be because I’m running a modded version of the game:

That message about running a modded game is just to let you know that they’re going to ignore your crash if the log shows it is a mod issue rather than a game issue. Which is fair.

It’s not. The mods are consuming more heap memory than the 1 GB limit allocated to the embedded Lua scripting engine. Increase the limit as described below.

It would be nice if there was a cleaner way to increase the default heap size. 2048 has been working for me personally.

If that’s the error you’re getting consistently, it absolutely should resolve those issues, as @Gideon404 then @MeatShield01 clarified.

I’ll say it once more too, it should be a launcher “advanced” options, there was even a time not long ago (see linked post) where unmodded game would also sometimes occasionally exceed heap limit while browsing inventory and crafting.

If you’re using mods, definitely set it to 2gb, it’s almost a default at this point.

What if I set the size to 4gb? will that cause any issue?

Yeah IIRC it was weird above 2GB, this was a while ago though so maybe I’m wrong. 2 gigs are more than enough; I have had zero exceeded Lua heaps since then.

Ok so today I tried to launch the game to play, but then the game couldn’t started, and i got an error “out of memory”.
