I realize the amount of work that would have to go into this is likely prohibitive, but having the Beam staff function like it did in V1 would be a wonderful option (left click fires the “shotgun” mode, right click fires beam, hold RMB then LMB makes beam do its “rifle” shot). Too often in clutch situations does a Stormvermin/Mauler push or small hit make you revert to using Beam mode which results in damage or death rather than being able to continue using the “shotgun” mode. Coupled with the weapon swapping issues present in the game, the current control setup for beam staff feels like a usability issue or an intentional clunkiness as a hamfisted form of weapon nerf, which makes the weapon less fun and more frustrating to use.
