As the title says, I think we have too many different modes that don’t share the same queue.
Standard mission board: 5 difficulties + 2x Maelstroms (Heresy and Auric)
Quickplay only queues for each difficulty (as it should). Maelstrom must be queued seperately. 7 queues, or 1 to 2 queues per difficulty (5 quickplay)
Mortis Trials: 5 difficulties
5 quickplay queues
Expeditions: 4 difficulties.
4 quickplay queues
Havoc: 40 difficulties. No quickplay. Special case (uber leet hard mode for the sweaty gamers who want to push things to the limit)
If we ignore Havoc, we have 14 different quickplay queues, or approximately 3 different quickplay queues per difficulty.
Why not add a quickplay that queues for all of the non-Havoc modes together? Choose your difficulty and end up in a regular mission, a Mortis Trial, or an expedition?
Perhaps an additional queue for people who want to aid newer players that allows you to queue for all difficulties and all modes at the same time?
To be fair, fixing this problem now would require quite a bit of work to get right.
To be blunt, it’s their own problem they created, so they deserve every bit of criticism the situation brings.
How can you have such a conflicting philosophy to specifically avoid selling DLC content that would split the player base, such as mission expansion packs, only to then turnaround and split your small player base in nearly every way imaginable for a game like this?
Yet another example of managerial inadequacy and lack of vision.
These people legit don’t understand that they have something unique and special here. If they did have someone with some authority and vision this game series could become huge and popular.
this is where VT2 was superior, games with small communities need lobby/server browsers. there’s no point to this trash system anymore because 90% of the time you click a specific scenario to play instead of QP it just generates a new server. why not just have a server browser? lost tech from the dark age of technology?
Personally I think now they’ve made a weak copy of an extraction shooter to abandon within the year they should do the same with a battle royale mode. They could be even more behind to jump on that bandwagon than Nightreign.
Granted it’s a bit of a band-aid, but one thing you could potentially do is expand the quickplay feature. Allow quickplay to carry you into any game mode (except havoc) and let players customize which game modes they want to enter when using it. That last part is important, Fatshark!
Heck, I don’t know why I can’t already quickplay into a maelstrom mission - but somehow I can quickplay into storyline missions even when I’d rather not.
Quickplay with filters would be neat. Don’t feel like doing this or that, not gonna have them in my filter today. They’ve already done this with opting out of story missions. I assume it wouldn’t be too terrible to add mortis and expedition options under that too.
