On Zealot meta and off-meta

I analyzed the stats several hundreds Havoc 40 games, and here’s what I found:

Successful missions with a Shroud Zealot and another Chorus Zealot: 1
Successful missions with a FotF Zealot and another Chorus Zealot: 2
Successful missions with two Chorus Zealots: 3
Successful missions with a single FotF Zealot: 13
Successful missions with a single Shroud Zealot: 26
Successful missions with a single Chorus Zealot: 249

So what conclusions can be drawn from this?
First: Avoid teams with more than one Zealot
Second: Avoid teams with a Zealot who isn’t using Chorus
Third: When playing Zealot, pick Chorus

Where am I wrong?

None…

Havoc is not a reference to balance the game…

Chorus is good in Havoc, but not really the best choice in Auric. An other reason why I don’t play Havoc, because FoF is really important for me.

You’re not wrong in the conclussion, I’d be a lot more interested on knowing “why” it is this way

The simplest answer I can imagine at least, is that Chorus is braindead to play, as well as there barely being good enough people to exploit Shroudfield

On more complex answers, it could be related to everyone else on the team being bad at the game and eating poo if they don’t get a dedicated chorus bot

The other day I had an Ogryn complain that I wasn’t running… Beacon of Purity? (No blight on that map btw). So yeah people will complain and also feel uncomfortable if they don’t get fully pampered by their teammates, which does reduce winning odds

I concur. Fury of the Faithful is a large contributor to my fun playing Darktide.

Especially this voice:

I use mainly a woman character (even if I have also a male zealot)

And my prefered sentence is when she shouts “God-Emperor, see me!!!” (So when we use FOF)

My favorite line is: THY DOOM COMES!

…as I fly in the air my Eviscerator raised high and revving.

Pure joy evey time.

What’s the win rate without zealot?

Kind of feeling like Zealot’s only purpose is to eat corruption and create forum discourse about the Relic Blade being OP & bad

Relic blade is bad. Because it works and people use it, they forget about Zealot’s equally iconic weapons that languish in the dumpster. I’ve been using Agni maul on Zealot just for something effective to use that I haven’t done to death…

Incomplete data. At a minimum you need loss numbers as well.

This is heresy. Relic blade is not bad lol.

Relic Blade is top tier melee weapon…in right hands.

I remember playing Maelstrom No Ammo with 2x Relic and 2x Greatsword team. The burst melee damage from team is insane when combined as team deathball. To show ammo wasn’t even required.

I think I was trying to say its pretty far from bad. Just that it gets used over all Zealot exclusives because its basically them but better, leading to them being forgotten by everyone devs included. Especially whatever Ironhelm attempts to be.

Ah, that makes more sense. Yeah, I agree to that lol. Sadly Relic Blade is most fun weapon to play for me personally. Emperor protects!

The “best” choice in auric doesn’t matter, because it’s not difficult enough. Unless it’s a particularly spicy maelstrom with waves of bursters and specials, and special monstrosities, you’ll do fine with any build and some skill.

You can’t balance the game around a mode where the players are never actually challenged, because frankly, they won’t feel or notice such changes anyways, beyond if it affects their ability to compete for kills with their teammates, which is not how you play a coop game in any case.

Relic blade actually has an interesting moveset that you can control based on how you play. Other weapons have absolute trash movesets that make no sense. Arbites shock maul for example - best moveset in the game, easily. Yet for some reason they can’t just bring those types of movesets to other weapons and would rather have them be actual dogsh*t.

Yes you can’t…
Havoc is played by a small part of the players…

And the problem is these players that have asked for buff buff buff… Soon we buff again the enemies… but after that you have to buff zealot… and parts of veteran.,. then buff 2 of the 3 ogryn roles… then a new dlc will come and they will want to buff again everything.

Stupid move that will never end.

Stupid move that create the situation where I only can play what is not OP in solo…
When will they deliver the solo game mode? seriously? the situation will never be fixed.

And? They generally have a deeper understanding of the game’s systems because of the higher intensity of high Havocs, and thus I feel their opinion weighs a bit heavier than the average player.

Have they? Most vocal havoc players want specific abilities or weapons, such as chorus or flamestaff, to be brought in line compared to the rest of the game, not buff everything else. Maybe weapons that are truly in a bad spot currently, like the chainsword, but that’s the exception.

Why does it matter to you? if you’re in auric the game is frankly not difficult enough for any buff or nerf to matter. Run whatever build you want, you’ll clear it anyways.

No… and no
Your ego doesn’t weight more.

Yes every times they say “In Havoc we need this or this” because of the difficulty…
Yes they have.

The only nerf asked was pickpocket (by @Vror) and that was clearly for Havoc and nuked a gameplay in the process.

It matter to get something else than that…

So Fatshark has two choices :

  • increasing HP and Damage (i suggest 25% more damages and x2 HP) as suggested by @MadMartigan AND they buff everything to psyker level (= Gigantic work..)
  • nerfing everything that needs a nerf… mainly psyker, scums (damages or survivability), skitarii talents that make the ranged weapons too strong, yellow toughness (chorus and veteran shout) (= normal work)

But your havoc is played by a tiny minority. Why should we destroy the game for the entire community just to please a tiny minority that plays with ESP mods?
Do you think that the game will be healthier once everybody not playing Havoc will leave?

If you can’t see why or how pickpocket was overpowered, I don’t think there is much point in having a discussion about game balance.

You can still play gunscum, you just have to kill a special or elite in melee sometimes. Gunscum isn’t weak due to the pickpocket nerf, it’s weak compared to stimm and rampage because both those abilities gives better utility and more importantly higher damage.

From the Havoc perspective. Not from Auric perspective. From Auric perspective this has CHANGED NOTHING. Played Scums these days, this nerf is an Havoc driven nerf.
Gun scums are still dealing insane damages… however this is balanced in regard of psykers and ranged skitarii. But then we need to buff everything to this level…
See below why it has changed nothing for Auric…

I don’t need to kill a special… there are plenty of ammo in Auric. You rarely can deplete your ammo reserve when playing desperado scum in Auric.
As the talent is designed, this is a tax node in Auric.
