(OLD) KNOWN ISSUE: Unable to View or Type in Chat

We are aware of and investigating an issue causing some players to be unable to view or type in chat.

The chat relies on a third-party service. We’re talking with them how to best make sure everyone has access.

Please share any solutions below that you’ve found that work for you, and we’ll relay them to our chat provider to help us resolve this for everyone.

Very strange! Does the issue persist after restarting both your PC and Darktide?

If so, could you please provide a console log for us to take a look?

I restarted the game and the PC multiple times, unfortunately no change. D:

i am having this exact same issue, except it extends to the voice chat functions as well. I’ve triple checked that I have voice turned on but I am unable to hear anybody else and nothing I say is transmitted either. Had multiple games of people who then send me steam messages saying i’m not listening/reading.

Issue Description:
Can’t see, open or use the in-game text chat.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. do literally anything, be literally anywhere, in any map in the game, still no chat. can’t see other peoples messages, can’t open the chat, can’t write in chat, can’t communicate with other players whatsoever, or receive communications from others. issue has persisted through rebinding chat key, verifying game files, and literally deleting and reinstalling the whole game, as well as trying many, many other things to fix it. (also have a constant problem with error 2001, if that information is relevant to this.)

I have the same issue. Made my own post about it too. included multiple console logs, the launcher log and user config, because i had a feeling it would be asked, considering the VT2 bug where chat could be disabled in the user configs, despite not seeing anything relating to chat in my DT config.

i would really appreciate any fix for this.

I also have chat problems, in my case the voice chat doesn’t work, I don’t listen and they don’t listen to me.

We’re at full release and this is still a problem and isn’t on the list of known issues either. The chat function is fairly integral to co-operative gameplay, especially on higher difficulties.

So, it is launch day, and the issue still persists. I am going to need any update on this issue, seeing as chat is integral to coop gameplay.

I have the solution.
Check your NAT settings in your router and lower it from strict to moderate or open. You may have to switch from ipv6 to ipv4 to be able to change that.
Hope it works for you.

Doesn’t do anything for me as I’m on a mobile router that doesn’t have configurable NAT settings outside of LAN connections.
