Ogryn pulls DH then potentially Ragequits

i take it the bloke wasnt up for jolly cooperation, oh dear

Oh thats evil, I love it! But no, thats not fair on other players in other games. The DH suddenly spawning in and corrupting everyone would wipe so many games.

My fave solution is just have the host disappear. Yes that has potential for cheesing it but people can literally do that anyway.

I actually love the idea that the DH just floats around a bit. I dont think it should attack anyone else though, the corruption would be enough detriment to the team.

there is also a rare bug where if pulling dh by yourself on purpose intentionally, it will go to someone else, even if that player was very far away from DH

but yes the behaviour when someone leaves after pulling a dh is weird targetting random players, it should still attack the bot that replaced the players that quit

Iv seen that happen, sucks when it does.

That would be one solution I guess, but then what would happen if someone joins at that moment too?

I still feel like the DH should just eff off. Its the fairest solution imo

This next part is not aimed at you at all @Amelia, I dont want you to feel like Im ranting at you, it just happens to follow my responses to you :innocent:

Considering people can literally cheat with mods and that this is essentially sanctioned by FS, considering that people can alt-f4 and rejoin to avoid being downed (except in Havoc I think), considering that when someone dies and ragequits a bot takes over that can save the team (actually happens semi-often), considering that someone can pull the DH, quit and grief the team then rejoin the same game and laugh as they watch their team struggle aaaand considering that when someone joins after a person dies and ragequits, unlike in V2, they start the mission alive instead of roped up…
…I feel like just making the DH leave is a fair solution.

To be clear, Im not against mods, I just think that considering them and the other things I listed, the DH leaving after being pulled by anyone is all round the most sensible solution I can think of with the least opportunity to greif other players with.

yep it’s bad when it happens, for me it was like:
X zealot is throwing knives to DH on purpose, Y zealot throwing knives to specials and being distant to DH. but for some reasons DH will aggro Y zealot.

it looks like some weird interaction between the blitz used and DH. or when you are far away from DH and you manage to wake it up with throwing knives, if someone is nearby, it will get the aggro sometimes, but rare

yes, i think it should disappear if a new player joins, there’s the animation they could use when the DH goes away.

hasn’t fatshark fixed that in normal gameplay? i think you enter the game again tied down in a spawn spot.

Im not 100% sure, I know there was talk of fixing it but idk if that happened.

dont know if engine-wise possible, but why not switch the leaving character for the daemonhost with it possessing the player model and make it use its talents and weapons against the team?

that way the alt+f4 prick would at least serve an immersion purpose and maybe brand him with an un-switchable title ā€œweak willedā€

fighting the dh coherently, its damage/corruption aint a problem.

one headless chicken running away from the team :man_shrugging: at least he ā€œtakes one for the teamā€

but jumping ship and 3 peeps left to deal with it on top—> toned down ā€œsecond grade hostā€ in players trousers

While thats veeery tempting :smiling_imp:, afaik the game cannot differentiate between alt-f4 scum and legit DC. So I feel that this is still unfair and immesurably complex :yum:

It’s very easy to track and I think it can. Leavers must be punished.

If they can reliably pin people who ragequit under these circumstances that would be great but I can see issues with this even if they can.

How can you tell, without a human spending time reviewing a case in depth, emailing the player etc, that someone ragequit for the purpose of greifing? They would also just find another way to crash the game that isnt logged as an alt-f4 keypress.

Even then I think it would require video evidence. You cannot just punish anyone who uses alt-f4. What if their game froze? What about false positives? No I dont think this solves anything, as much as its nice to think proper justice would be handed out. Justice is blind for a reason.

We should just make the DH disappear. Nobody loses, nobody gets greifed. Some poor alt-f4 ragers have to live with their impotent rage. We all get to carry on like nothing happened.

Maybe this mod helps: Who Are You - Display account names

Thank you. Do you know if it also displays console users? Im tempted to use this but I dislike having mods installed. I currently have no mods at all. The only mods Iv ever used in the past was solo with bots and true solo.

I would really prefer steam shows account names properly and I think the responsibility lies with FS to make their game uniform across all platforms.

Again, thank you, this is a viable solution to that problem.

it shows what platform a player is using. you can also have it show players by their account name, not by their character name.

Funny thing, had a game once where a sniper tried shooting a teammate but because the DH was in the way, he straight up shot the DH in the head which sent it straight at the guy he was trying to shoot. Pretty rare but we weren’t mad so much as impressed at that point.

It was like, half fixed.

If you alt+f4 while in a downed state, you will return tied to the podium (or if you leave needing a revive you return needing a revive, but that was already there/normal behavior).

If you alt+f4 at any point before you go down though you come back standing with the health you had left/an amount less than that. Main example is if you leave while trappered, you will come back with the health you had since you never went downed technically (I assume the same for dogs). I’m not entirely against this as I utterly hate disablers, trappers especially thanks to how much they just ignore the game they are placed in, but it is still an unfortunate reason to ā€˜scum’ like such.

And obviously in this case, if the person alt+f4’s with the host, they would return with their HP, though I’ve never seen a troll that does this ever return (as that would make them INSANELY easy to instantly block).

Thankfully neither have I. I think it takes an especially malicious intent to do such a thing and I would actually directly report them to FS if I came across one.

Most ragequitters are prolly just venting by metaphorically throwing their toys out the pram, Im not even sure many of them understand what they are doing or the effects it can have on the remainers, both positive and negative.

Hi! Sorry I’m a week late, I’m catching up with my @'s now! I see how this can be problematic, I’ll raise it to our database to spark conversation around the mechanic

Ideally the demonhost would always stay on bots until a human player spawns in, then it should despawn unless that player set off the dh to begin with.

in such situation, the DH should remain aggro on the bot that replaces the player. The DH should kill the bot and if the guy comes back he should reappears hogtied.

I disagree… such mechanic should be removed. This is too easy to see a player quitting to let a bot revive one teammate…
When someone leave / alt+F4 / is disconnected, the bot should replace him in same state… so if the player was down, the bot should appear at same place and also down…
