Depending on the current animation of the boss, they have increased stagger resistance.
Once you let them out of the stunlock and they start to do certain attacks, you can not simply slap them right back into a stunlock.
In this video, he stuns bosses regardless of the animation.
Even on Daemonhost, he does that during the attack (literary breaks its attack animation), and does that in an idle stance.
The chaos spawn in the video is getting blasted with explosives and was already stumbling backwards (due to heavy stagger), right before the first punch hit.
You can not always stun them with a punch.
I did not try to stunlock a demonhost so far, so i can not speak to that.
Yeah, that is not true.
During some animations, you can’t start a stunlock on a chaos spawn by simply doing that.
Either because it is too stagger resistant to be staggered by a punch at all, or because you would need to punch it in the face, but can not hit its head during that animation.
Or maybe i am able to do it during some animations, but suddenly become incapable of doing the same heavy+punch combo correctly for some magical reason, when ever the guy does certain attacks.
If you have the creature spawner mod, you can try it yourself.
i played vet since cbt, and i want no nerfs to psyker, ogryn, or preacher. Go have your damn fun. Maybe one day I’ll have fun on vet again…
He should’ve get better internet…lol
Anyway, I haven’t meet a lot of competent Gunlugger Ogryn(they all suck at melee somehow) but I heard one with Rumbler is broken as heck.
I’ve met a few, mostly on Maelstrom. Ones with Stubber eat bosses, Ripper gun eats elites and gun lines.
Most of them aren’t very good tho.
I’ve met 7 Rumbler Ogryns that I would describe as broken (shooting the whole game and ending with 500k+ ranged damage with around 600k-700k total). 6 out of the 7 were using Loyal Protector.
Oh my god, this is beautiful
So, Ogryn is broken in many cases and kinda mega strong, so let’s have fun while we can

And used in conjunction with the Debuff Indicator mod, you can see the Stagger debuff count on it too.
^ this shouldn’t be controversial or a surprise, sad you have to repeat it.
To be clear, shovel has been able to do this for a long time, it’s just nobody minded and few noticed because it also did no damage.
As I think @MarxistDictator pointed out in another thread this was kinda balanced in this state. Now Shovel is good all round I’m not convinced it should be able to stunlock bosses as easily as it can. I kinda don’t want Shovel nerfed, but I also think it’s probably a bit much as is.
Batter and bleed generally is definitely a big factor in its damage though, so we’ll see what changes come to those and see how it pans out. Ideally if bleed stays as it is I’d rather see Shovel have to choose between having enough impact to stagger bosses or getting much higher DPS through bleeds. Doing both at once feels a bit too much.
