Ogryn in Heresy difficulty : No, you DON'T have to bring a shield to be viable (Guide on how to)

Shield can be useful only if you don’t do something like this.

Any melee weapon & rumbler as ranged weapon & no problem on any difficulty :stuck_out_tongue:
I must say i loved my rippergun but rumbler is just better & it’s even better than grenade gauntlet for aoe dmg x)

If you do not take a shield or a rumbler, any other class will do better.
Pretty much.

…it depends on who is playing.
& what your aiming at as I play randoms I usually dont like to change my ranged weapon from rumbler just “to be fit” for any situation. But Heavy stubber[80 on range & stability] & mkIV ripperguns[the ones with 480dmg] are viable…especially the ripper gun it one taps exploding busters[& if they’re alive after a one salvo then there is 85% of times got staggered from running animation & lay down on ground before getting up] & does pretty good work of most special enemies; especially with it’s stager & if you get III marks supresion on kill.

Agreed.

I don’t know about Heavy Stubber since it can’t stop Ragers running even in Heresy, Ripper gun mk2 works fine in Heresy to me, based on some test of damage, Ripper gun is viable on Damnation for me.

But I don’t bring it on Damnation because like you said, I don’t know what my team brings. Most Zealot bring Flamethrower, most Pysker brings Flamethrower or Eye destroyer staff, then Ripper gun’s main advantage that can kill horde fast is redundant.

But you’d be better taking another class else to do that then.
Another veteran will do it all better.

Yeah in theory. Some may argue that vet is simply strongest class atm, with kit including Bolter and PS.
Regardless it is ppl who play and the game is not played on paper, so it mainly depends on player, situations and difficulty you are in.
For me Ogryn shines in clutch moments, so if you have a breeze flawless run, Oggy will just be there, when $#it hits the fan though he is your best chance of survival. Additionally Ogryn’s CC is grossly underestimated by many in my humble opinion.

Yeah CC is strong even if you dont include melee with rumbler or gg you get like 30+ “vets grenades” for CC & ult for tossing everything around… not to mention 25% faster innate picking people & not being disturbed by dmg.

The DoorGryn is a joke hahaha
Always make me chuckle when an Ogryn stands in a doorway, blocking Line of Sight, and enemies still run through him bc “running attack animations”

Yeah or fly thro him because they got grenaded or alike xD
The most annoying thing is when a enemy get’s like into you by getting up from those & you are “to big” with the line of sight being a bit upper to see them & got smacked “from inside” :stuck_out_tongue:

My issue with strong CC though, is that enemies flung can sometime take a deceptively long time to get up.
And then smack an ally in the back.
I don’t remember that happening that often in VT.

This is a failure of the game and UI design. The ready screen before a match should allow you to swap your class,. see other players gear and builds.

There is also the same problem in DT like in V2… with stager:
There are 3 stager levels >> first is disruption [unyielding are immune to 1st level] & second is strong stager from special attacks that bypass the immunities & 3rd is when you toss enemy on the ground… like try even touching the 2nd & 3rd level staggered enemy & he will instantly “get up” & smack you in the face if you dont apply stager from special action even if your an ogryn & use strong attack…especially annoying with ragers… best option smack faster with clever or special , smack , special , smack & repeat… lot of little things that add to the whole picture.

LMFAO, 235 hours and you can’t beat damnation without a shield? You must be AWFUL at fps games. I’ve carried 3 of friends lvl 20-25 through their first 5 damnation clears cuz they were complaining the exp was too low on lower difficulties.

Step your game up “pro”
