youre intentionally creating an environment where you can expect a bad reaction. for one youre making the hypothetical person who’s already being disingenuous by directly antagonizing people. which isnt what im talking about.
thats not whats happening with the ogryn- the ogryn is doing this passively with his own name, and over a video game no less (which is an important factor) and somebody else is personally making it their problem. the chances of any of the rest of us even seeing this guy are astronomically small. the only reason that we’re even having this conversation is because the right person with a chip on their shoulder for “x thing i will never tolerate” found it, and he himself is a hypocrite because his name is also a form of crass that somebody else will find unacceptable. this is the exact kind of thing im talking about- this issue will eventually boil down to either everything being untouchable, or nothing is untouchable.
as i say before IF his name braks the TOS of the game it SHOULD be changed if it don’t then they have to leave it alone
in the end it is NOT up to you to say if it is wrong it is up to FatShark you CAN and should point out anything you THINK brakes the TOS to FatShark and they will do what is needid
Bad enviroment, sure buddy. Someone made a point i gave an example. If it needs to be explained why someone would be bothered then what else is there to say? I mean if youu want you can make a feedback thread ask fatshark. That it should be okay to name your character in various forms of the N word cause you know free speech.
Or try the discord, community managers are there and tend to see feedback on various topics. Good luck.
@Fatshark_Hedge@Aqshy Could we get a Dev response to this thread clearly laying out FS’s stance on this stuff before this thread potentially gets even sillier?
Stop playing dumb, you should know exactly why that word isnt ok and your meaningless arguments are just making you appear like you support it. Even if you think its ok, you should be able to understand that most don’t. Stop being so obtuse.
do you realize English is not the only language in the world, and that in other countries maybe that specific name, might be even a real name?
You shouldn’t be surprised nor think maliciously when similar stuff happens, just move on.
It’s not that your name either is nice in game, but ok.
It could be even an insult for some other people in other countries depending how they pronounce ect, but you may not be aware.
eh even that one for me isnt the best argument. i think it would be better to address the meta arguement. which is whether or not skirting the naming filter is a punishable offense. which i say no because that means one could argue to a point where a lot more than just this is punishable. which is where my real gripe is
Be careful with it.
Rocket League deemed my name to be skirting the filter and it’s censored in-game.
The big problem with it is that when it’s censored it makes it seem like an issue even though it isn’t. So they turned a name which has nothing bad in to something that can be now assumed bad due to censoring it. The filter is creating more bad words even when there aren’t any.
Censoring names or words doesn’t prevent the message to be conveyed, it serves little purpose.
Yeah, good luck with that. How many different ways to spell the n-word are you planning to ban?
I think I heard censorship being portrayed as a big bad no-no about 3 or 4 times in these forums last week alone, but apparently when something offends a snowflake, all bets are off.
By the time you’re done, it would be easier to just disperse lists of allowed nicknames instead.
Yeah, no. Using the n-word is no-go, you shouldn’t be looking for reasons to use it, and people who are offended by it are not “special snowflakes”, and I’m not apologizing for this response.
People need to stop finding reasons to be offensive and need to be decent humans, instead.
