Ode to Darktide's Capricious Crafting

In the realm of Darktide, where shadows dance,
A lament unfolds, a tale of chance.
A gambling system, a treacherous tide,
Where fortunes are lost and hopes often hide.

Oh, Darktide’s gamble, a tempting woe,
A system that sows seeds of sorrow.
In the depths of chance, players stray,
Betting their fate in a precarious play.

Dice rolling, cards turning, a game of fate,
In the hands of luck, players navigate.
Yet, in this system, the odds seem cruel,
Leaving many hearts broken, a pitiful duel.

Oh, the terrible gamble, a risky affair,
A design that fosters frustration and despair.
Fortunes vanish, like whispers in the night,
In the grip of randomness, dimming the light.

But let us raise our voices in this ode,
To the players resilient on this perilous road.
For in Darktide’s gamble, though it may deceive,
Gaming spirits endure, with a hope to retrieve.

May developers hear the player’s cry,
And in future updates, a fair system apply.
In Darktide’s world, let balance reside,
Replacing the terrible gamble with a better tide.

Hope’s denied.

Constantly risking absurdity
and death
whenever he performs
above the heads
of his audience
the poet like an acrobat
climbs on rime
to a high wire of his own making
and balancing on eyebeams
above a sea of faces

Darktide unveiled
My hype uncurtailed

Time cannot pass fast enough
All other games insubstantial fluff

Vermintide one and second were troubled
But I was assured the efforts of the new were doubled

With that the worries set aside
A game with guns is where I want to reside

Beta begins with no meat on its bones
My disappointment escaping in groans

Mistakes of the past and plenty more
They’d crashed this ship upon a rocky shore

The choice is made to step away
Time will make red anger go gray

Now healed and with the passage of sand
It is seen some new content was nearly at hand

Returning upon a wave with the trees
The game is fun now but mostly a breeze

To gain more insight I attempt to experiment
But it is not without a grinding regiment

The materials I built are stacked up on high
But luck dictates that all my hopes will die

For a while this game held my unrivaled attention
But soon I am just one more victim of player retention

No. I’m a new age luddite.

I absolutely despise AI especially for the visual arts.

We’re still waiting for them to recognise the existence of their current live service game this year.

« We must negate the machines-that-think. Humans must set their own guidelines. This is not something machines can do. Reasoning depends upon programming, not on hardware, and we are the ultimate program! Our Jihad is a “dump program.” We dump the things which destroy us as humans! »
