Occasional severe framerate stutters

On rare occasion, the game will stutter VERY BADLY for a second and then resume play as normal.

Same for me today, thought it was my PC fault

How often does this stuttering occur? Does switching Direct X version make any difference?

It runs worse on DX11, was getting random periods of what felt like 30 fps or less roughly half the entire time I was in the versus basement after changing video settings. I swapped back to DX12 right after that.

Hm okay, I’m not too sure what to suggest here. Shot in the dark, but perhaps deleting your AppData may help:

  1. Press the Windows key + R
  2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
  3. Navigate to: AppData\Roaming\Fatshark
  4. Delete the entire ‘Vermintide 2’ directory

Please note, as your shader cache rebuilds there will be some temporary stutters for this.

Even the user_settings.config? I’d prefer keeping that one.

Feel free to back your old user_settings.config up and you can replace it again after. It may be worth checking the issue with fresh setting first though, just in case.

i have tried everything backed up my user config disabled mods and everything it still happens on dx12, but for me its rather a peculiar issue that causes my mouse to hitch even outside of game after i play it for a bit. only happens in vermitnide not darktide.
