Nvidia Reflex or G-Sync Causing Display Flickering

Issue Type (Required):

Other

Issue Description (Required):

Enabling Nvidia Reflex in addition to G-Sync and V- Sync in NVCP (RTX 4090, multiple driver revisions) causes display flickering on two displays (Dell AW3225QF and Asus PG32UDCM) and 3 different DP cables (Club3d CAC-1091, CAC-2068 and the stock Dell cable).

I have contacted Nvidia regarding this issue, but it seems (from my experience and knowledge) that Darktide is the only effected game.

I have reinstalled the game and wiped the Roaming Darktide folder. I have tried several driver versions, from both the 546.XX and 551.XX branches. All driver installs were performed in Safe Mode using DDU.

Disabling Reflex, or unchecking- Display Specific Settings in the G-Sync menu fixes the issue, but disabling either setting results in a sub-par experience. My old monitor did not experience this issue, but I believe there are multiple issues at play.

I am submitting this as topic to document my experience in the hopes that the Darktide developers may address this with their Nvidia contact(s).

Thank you.

I look forward to hearing back.

Here is the fix:

In the Nvidia Control Panel, click 3D Settings from the left-hand column menu.

In 3D settings, under the Global Settings tab, scroll down to Preferred Refresh Rate.

Change Preferred Refresh Rate to Application Controlled. No more flickering.

If this works, and I have this issue in some other games. I will be extremely thankful.
( I have an Asus PG32UCDP with a MSI 4090 not sure about what kind of display port cable, using the one the monitor came with.)
