Next weapons for vet need to be the heavy autogun and hotshot lasgun

i NEED to be able to make a true jinroh build and hell, with the gunner weapons already technically in the game and especially with the fact that both have the necessary means to make them count as infinte ammo weapons, i would LOVE to see them with the hotshot lasgun having a overheat mechanic on the barrel that means you need to let it cool and if you go too hard, the cooling process is both forced and slightly longer while meanwhile the autogun gets a set amount of ammo per each firing before needing to take a good bit to reload as you pull a new chain from your ammo backpack and load it properly into your gun before being able to fire with your firing for both being damn near perfect accuracy making them the ultimate horde clear tools to pair with exhilirating takedown as you just let loose head level into crowds and watch them cleave through hordes kinda like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVR43GuxSlA

honestly seeing scenes like this also makes me think that vet could be an interesting case for testing weapons that remove one of your weapon slots in exchange for a considerable power boost at what your class does best with in this case, you loose your melee weapon in exchange for your toughness becoming permanent gold toughness as you are “Armored up” so yea, you loose literally HALF of how the game is supposed to play but now especially on the vet who specializes in toughness durability and strength most, you now cannot be harmed unless your toughness is fully broken and with confirmed kill and exhilerating takedown, you have more than enough means as long as your gun is loaded to maintain that toughness.

But should they ? Psyker weapons ought to be ammo less (for the most part), but would Hotshot Lasguns or a Heavy Stubber be better if they had no ammo mechanics.

Heavy Stubber I think would work quite well as a normal weapon, it’s just the Braced Autogun that cause issues, cause that’s where the Veteran Heavy Stubber would fit the most, but they could have it still work by being a heavier compagnion of the Braced Autoguns.

As for Hotshot weaponry, I would love to see it happen Ă  la Outcast Engineer. Have them be technically ammo less, but have a reserve that replenish as you fight.

With side talents that would change the Hotshot Lasgun to different variants, Pistol, Longlas, Volleygun…

Losing your melee weapon on the other hand would mean that you have no means to fight back when surrounded by a horde, wouldn’t be for me personally

i mean i can see it work kinda like the heavy class in space marine 2 coop, he doesn’t have a melee weapon but still can bash and kick enemies

honestly i think it would be fine for 2 reasons. the first that both would have to deal with is that would have an extra long ready up time past even the plasma fun and bolter with the hotshot lasgun having the longest time to pull out with its cable that has to always be connected to your backpack. beyond this again, you cant infinite fire the hotshot lasgun and need to master letting it cool a few seconds between volleys lest its barrel overheat and you now need to wait probably like 5 to even maybe 6 seconds for the barrel to cool where you cant swap weapons AT ALL and have slowed movement. as for the autogun, it wouldnt have as consistant fire due to like the jin roh wolves, being like lets say 100 round chains you need to slowly pull from the backpack and load into the gun carefully meaning it would have the longest reload in the game and unlike the hotshot, you cant just tap fire it constantly because of that with maybe its trade off is that its better at dealing carapace and unyeilding damage and perhaps even would be the one gun in the game that doesnt ricochet off of carapace but tears through it dealing regular damage.

yea exactly and you get gold toughness which means even if you have just 1 toughness point, you take NO health damage meaning for example, one elite kill would probably keep you around like 10 to maybe 30 toughness if you had a horde of poxwalkers slapping ya meaning you could concievably with that 20% toughness replenishment unhalted by being attacked, take NO DAMAGE while in the middle of a normal poxwalker horde meaning as long as you keep hitting heads for exhilerating takedown and killing specialists and elites for confirmed kill, you can be RIDICULOUSLY tanky

its kinda what i was thinking as while vets using melee aint something im against given we got kriegers but in a game with heavy weapons and s***, we NEED a full guns option for the times when you wanna f****** just walk into places and air them out with full auto…

@Khorne_Dawg would disagree, but it is essentially what I believe Psyker should be able to do (optional).

I have two builds on my Psyker that I switch between depending on how I feel like playing: [smite-dome-surge] and [BB-scream-purg], and I swear that I never, ever switch to melee on my Psyker, except for a few instances where I switch to the combat blade to get out of a bad situation quickly, but I never use melee to kill hordes, elites, or bosses.

I don’t get the point of melee on Psyker aside from fun/memeing or the occassional movement utility.

Purgatus deletes everything but Crusher’s, while Surge/Smite deletes everything just slightly slower than Purgatus with the added defensive drom the Dome.

thats the thing. same goes for vet VoC builds cause you can already maintain especially in higher difficulties, close to 100% uptime on VoC thanks to tactical awarness. what im saying is the vet loses their melee and in its place gets “armored up” in some high quality armor that gives you PERMANENT gold toughness at all times and if you dont already know, gold toughness is TRUE armor like what you see in payday 2 where you CANNOT take any health damage as long as you have SOME gold toughness with as little as 1 gold toughness is enough to stop a sniper shot or pox burster from doing ANY damage so if ALL of your toughness became gold toughness especially with confirmed kill and exhilerating takedown as well as executioners stance and all of vets ranged damage buffs, if you ARENT finishing even auric damnation missions with 100 hp than either everyone died or it was a high intensity malestrom with the ogryns modifer and ANYONE surviving that would be a miracle.

like honestly giving permanent gold toughness AT ALL might just be too strong to the point that perhaps its gold toughness while above 75% toughness just like the iron will trait.

YEEEEEEEEESS

NOOOOOOO

did you even bother to read the idea? like honestly with the braced auto guns, recon lasgun, a heavy autogun, and the hotshot lasgun as well as even to a lesser degree even things like the lasgun and las pistol could serve well with this idea which currently im thinking is probably best unified as loose your melee weapon and in place you get gold toughness while you are at or above somewhere between 50% to 75% max toughness meaning a good vet that can ride their toughness above a certain threshold could be damn near unkillable with if that somehow isnt strong enough than the version of just all your toughness becomes permanent gold toughness is also a option.

Yes and I disagree. Game wasn’t built for no-melee builds and permanent gold toughness would break the game. It wouldn’t work.

Semi infinate ammo. A hotshot lasgun that heats up and will only cool down a certain % and eventually your “minimum” heat is at like 80% so you use one of the two replacement barrels your carrying (refilled by large ammo sources?) To reset your minimum heat to 0 again.

Or would I? We’ll never know! Mwahahahahaha!

…

Wait, what are we even talking about? I just woke up.

Ngl you kinda have a point. Gl when they get close tho. Still would be sick to try. But for how long would I wanna keep trying it is the real question.

Maybe the shotguns may have an actual use
