Melk still brags about his Auric operatives on Mercantile but yeah. They should have added another letter for us to assume the upper-echelon of garbage.
Actually on Havoc those lines about “damn, should’ve sent auric operatives” still play. I always assumed they play on lower difficulties too, and auric literally disables them (and they forgot to disable them on Havoc)
Also, even on release, we were inquisitorial agents by the end of the level grind. Level 30 = you are now part of the inquisitorial warband. The “you aren’t worth it” excuse never made sense to me whatsoever, it literally ignores the story. I think Fatshark justi mplemented the weapons in a lame way.
L take
Lul, whut? True take, rather.
You think every power sword and thunder hammer has to be turned back on every 2 seconds? That Guard officers and space marines are out there flipping the switches like mad in the middle of every battlefield?
No, the “real” versions of these just turn on and stay on until they are turned off or the power runs out. Ours are malfunctioning for balance reasons.
its funny how they did that to keep the base ass human technology relevant but the pokey sword and butter knife literally lord over all melees.
The shock mauls do perfectly fine balance wise while being perma on. It’s not for balance reasons, it’s cause Fatshark couldn’t figure out how to/didn’t have time to make them interesting.
It’s evidently not for lore reasons either, as weapons like these or the relic blades have non-scuffed activation mechanics and unlock at lower levels before your character can lorewise be an auric operator or inquisitorial agent.
I think it’s really just that they didn’t have time to polish the mechanic on launch. That’s why they tend not to release weapons with that mechanic anymore, polishing the idea for something unique instead, like the force greatsword.
