New blitz concept: Veteran

this is a simple one but one i thought of while playing vet and thinking about how fun this could be where you could get a SECOND gun instead of your blitz ability but it could only be a pistol which is fine since the bolt pistol, revolver, auto pistol, and laz pistols work perfectly well and in this case, they would free you up to take more horde focused guns and really lean into the vet being a master of firearms. honestly i just love the thought of rocking it with a braced autogun and than tapping my blitz to see me one hand the autogun while pulling out a revy where adsing lets you use the revy while your non ads shots would be your main gun… would look SOOOO cool and i NEED that sh*t in my life…

There are some weapons I would see well as Blitz, but none that I would give to the Veteran.

Don’t think that blitz opening up a 3rd weapon slot would work well either, in general (though maybe melee if a Crusader Branch happen on the Zealot)

But I think a system like the Outcast Engineer, with a specific weapon being used in place of ability could be workable. In which case, having the whole Hotshot weaponry, starting with Lasgun, side talent for Laspistol, Volley gun… as the ability would make it easier to give them an identity without being too close to the current Las weapons.

As for Blitz, if Hotshot are the ability, the theme could be Stormtroopers, and thus we could imagine Rad Grenades, DoT, big area, not a lot of them

so do you mean like a adeptus class cause honsetly thinking of a skitari running around with a f****** radium rifle and a plasma pistol in their robotic third arm could be F****** COOL and also i get what your saying with mostly this is just an idea i had in my head i would love to see with i could think of a balancing feature if it felt too broken which would be lowered ammo pickups as the ammo you would have gotten for only your primary now is split between both guns with tbf, this thought also is techincally meant to be paired with a new subclass that would come out with this ability being its blitz so maybe almost like a mini gunlugger style subclass with the expess thought of this being a vet subclass ALL ABOUT guns and hell, maybe your right and instead this could be the class feature where in place of a melee, they have a second gun and than maybe have their aura be a bit more of a selfish version of the survivalist aura to balance the issue of you running outta ammo. hell, it could even be intersting to see it be a subclass branch where they take the current las gun no ammo use on crit hits and replace it with you getting a backpack as your blitz that gives all guns you use infinite ammo but autoguns and lazguns alike now have a barrel overheat mechanic where shooting too much means you need to take a second and let the gun cool down if its an automatic gun. the thought kind being your guns all become beltfed/battery charged like the hotshot lasguns and heavy autoguns we see gunners run around with.

well the original idea is the second gun replaces your grenade ability as it would be the 4th subclasses blitz ability instead of your nades meaning you would still have a melee AND 2 guns.

At this point anything that replaces god awful smokes that nobody uses is a good thing in my book.

I remember reading back in a day a concept of Vets blitz where he has a hellgun backpack on cooldown or something that shoots insanely strong projectile, making it a sort of an instakill cannon. Like krak grenades, but deals even more damage on weakspot hits. A blitz that actually fits Vets sharpshooter identity.

honestly this kinda makes me want my idea to replace it too cause in the last few days, i have had roughly 4 or 5 fellow vets running smokes for that god offal pennance im guessing was likely either only recently added or people for some reason all decided to do around the same time and about 3 of the 5 times, i had voice of command instead of executioners stance so EVERY F****** SMOKE led to us getting gunned down by shooters, shotgunners, and f****** gunners while all i can do is fire my autogun into the smoke and HOPE i hit somthing by firing at whats shooting me… like the smoke literally is so bad that it doesnt even do the ONE F****** THING it says it does and infact DOES THE F****** OPPOSITE cause really all that s*** does is blind YOUR OWN F****** TEAM…

Just give us the possibility to wield a pistol and a melee weapon at the same time.

  • Press G to draw my Bolt Pistol.
  • M1 fires the Bolt Pistol, and M2 is my Melee attack.
  • Q becomes Block.
  • M3 becomes Aim Down Sights.
  • Pressing G again holsters the Bolt Pistol.

Drawbacks:

  • We lose grenades? (Might be super unviable) – Maybe just switch the button to 2/Secondary Weapon to draw the Bolt Pistol.
  • We lose M3 on melee.
  • We need to adjust to new controls.
  • Stamina is lowered based on the lower weapon’s value.
  • Dodges are reduced by -1, since we can react to all threats simultaneously.

All human classes could get this.

This is basically the control scheme from SM2.

That would most likely come as a separate weapon:
If melee slot

  • Action1: melee attacks, light and heavies
  • Action2: Block,
    → Action1: Push
  • Action3: Either ADS or Shoot
    → Action1: Shoot if ADS

So you would end up with various Melee weapon + Pistols kits

Terrible, as this would bloat the item pool ad absurdum.
We have what? 8 one-handed melee options plus three pistols? That makes 8 × 3 = 24 new weapons to drop?

I’d rather keep my ranged and melee slots and have a perk, skill, or option to wield them simultaneously with a drawback.

A gun tied to an ability cooldown/separate resource?

What a novel concept.

I’m not suggesting that every 1hander and every pistol should be combined, just some. Those that are iconic to the lore in some ways.

Why compromise and give them the easy way out? Just let us freely combine them and not opt for the Vermintide way of solving this.

Kruber bash the butt of the gun, the broken teef can replenish ammo.

Because I vastly prefer the dual wield method of Vt2 than I do that of SM2 or other such games.

I find it boring, lacklustre, and doesn’t really offer more gameplay than simply picking a 1h ranged as I already can do.

I’d rather keep my ranged and melee slots and have a perk, skill, or option to wield them simultaneously with a drawback. you dont get it. they would all techincally still be the same, the only difference between each ‘variant’ is what pistol you would have in your other hand and what projectile gets fired. its literal copy paste with the stats like dodge and stamina being just minor tweaks per variant. it would be 1 new weapon with multiple variants that are almost all identical except what pistol your using.
