i said that while we were playing: i was staggering enemy ogryns everywhere so bad that i barely had to dodge. at least, a zealot with the dreaded ds4 needs to move. zealot uses mobility to avoid hits, arbites uses stagger. unfortunately there was no ci-vi game available for a comparison to the 3b.
iirc the only surprised were from gunner spawning out of thin air, so i put gunner resist on my curios now as with ogryn. and a burgle that spit me out of the map.
as for disablers being ogryn’s kryptonite: arbites has his doggo to keep these pests away. “go get them” has +50% damage but if prefer “unleashed brutality” just to fetch me some trapper scalps.
because theres people that are still salty over the power sword on release and cry whenever the Vet gets anything strong.
i dont think fatshark is gonna do aanything to Improve the Vet, if anything i think they are going to make it worse
I wish they would… I feel like he’s fallen off, especially in higher Havoc’s since they inflated the health pools a bit more, so that he doesn’t put out as much damage as before.
delete / nerf psyker bubble and watch more than half the clowns in havoc crumble
also remove confident strike from every weapon but add it to shield
the talents with toughness are fine but confident strike makes it absurd since there is no tradeoff unlike with talents
so without nuking ogryns tank capabilities or turning ogryn into a boring 0 damage bullet sponge the simplest way would be to remove confident strike
and dont come at me with your supaaaa seeekriiiit blessing just no all you need is skull crusher the rest is optional

i dont have any confidence in fatshark to improve vet at this point it feels as ifthe yhate the class, nor do i expect them to nerf the arbites because if the y do the people that payed for them are gonna be mad
this community just hates ranged gameplay of any type besides the occasional “sniping” aka taking 1 shot at some distant sniper occasionally
especially the vermintide nerds just go complete monkey bananas but instead of just returning to their dead game they continue to infest darktide and demand that people have “fun” their way and only that way
and if you dont agree you are a noob or should go back to cod according to them etc etc etc

Naw, he’s not necessarily victimizing, just telling it like it is. I don’t think Vet is in as bad of a place as Ogryn once was beforehand not that Ogryn was really bad before, but not amazing either. To be fair, when they did nerf Ogryn like a dozen times within a two-year time-spam, I did btch a little bit about it. I thought it was unbelievably unjust & totally random. Vet could use some polishing up with tree structure, nodes, etc…
Yeah, I agree that Vet really need some major improvement on build variety(and the promised new weapon that FS seem to have forgotten about.)
But it’s so weird how people act like Vet always gets screwed over when he’s actually had plenty of moments to shine throughout the game’s lifespan.
Veteran was the first class to get an “overhaul” and thus it will be the worst by the time all the other classes are done, because of time/meta changes etc.
Veteran is the only class that was fundamentally changed in its core role (from range weapon specialist to more of a jack of all trades), and i think that is why “Veteran Players” have had a much harder time to accept the changes.
Yeah, basically for the most part. It’s like they want the game more focused on the melee side of things. Which, obviously, I don’t agree for Veteran very specifically. He can be, but I feel it’s more of a dominant shooter-type class anyway. Devs also hate passive tanky roles in games too, I’ve noticed, but that’s a whole other different story altogether.

when the new skill trees were introduced vet didnt have keystones not that it matters because they werent good either.
its the only class that has not received any new class exclusive weapons and we just got the hand me downs from other classes.
the Dueling sword is OP i agree but most peopl seem to think this thing alone makes the vet balnced wth the other classes
They really just need to focus on Vets gunplay and stop trying to force it into a weird hybrid. Not every class needs the option to be good at everything. This was a big problem in vermintide where its like “oh but we need every hero to have a ranged career.” Sure… neat but, one is now obviously going to outperform the others and they aren’t diverse enough to really warrant playing a different one for niche reasons.
As a longtime tabletop Guard player of ~20 years now, close combat has typically been synonymous with mounds of dead guardsmen, in most editions to the point where you want to pathologically avoid it or only feed sacrificial low-value units into it with the full knowledge that they’re going to die (or engage with huge over-supported megablobs of many dozens). Coming from that angle (and having played L4D, the 'Tide series spiritual liege), the level of distaste for ranged combat from some quarters has been…quite shocking.
I’d say that Vet doesn’t really fit the direction the game moved, sure they can be effective at shooting still, but they are tedious to maneuver in that way and almost in anyway you build them they kinda are a chore to play. they just aren’t as fun as the other classes.
Or at least find a new niche because all the classes has their thematic niche and the Vet really doesn’t anymore.
because a good chunk of the players come from vermintide where ranged gmeplay was mostly to kill special enemies and 99% percent of the gameplay is melee.
and they expect darktide to be the same
you can make a ranged career that isn’t just a countersniper. However, I do agree with you to some extent and im not sure what the suggestion is to fix this. Vet would basically need the Halo sniper rifle to compete as a ranged career with the kind of output other classes are pushing out.
Like, everyone kills crushers so quick in melee you would need to 1-2 tap them consistantly for anyone to even bother.
Its the vermintide power creep all over again. When the game came out pulling a patrol was prolly a death sentence, now everyone and their mother can 1 shot 50 stormvermin and not bat an eye.
