Feedback - After 4 weeks of not playing DT

This is specially for the devs, but anyone can intervene.

Like I said in a post, I stopped playing DT for 1 month, because the Arbites made the Veteran useless.

Now I am back:

So lets go:

  • Me and others, were asking for a “explosive” gun / grenade launcher for Veteran. Now we have the new mark for Bolter rifle. Thank you for giving us this.

  • Arbites continues to be a “solo”, most times I play with Arbites teammates, they go on their own, because they can, actually.

  • The event was really fun to me, (once I changed the key to destroy rations to “E”, “use”). Now I feel addicted to take things from the ground while playing. I would like something similar in the future.

  • The tree of talents… I am not the best on builds (because I create characters I like, not “the most powerful” I can make).

But I don’t like to be forced as Veteran to choose “Field improvisation” or “Clsoe Order Drill”. And on Psyker “Critical Chance boost”.

BUT I feel like it is better now. (Again I am not the best “char builder”).

  • Laser guns, are really REALLY weak. Specially on high difficulties.

I must aim to head all time, is exaggerated.

And most laser guns are not full-auto or semi-auto, I would like some changes on that.

  • I woud like to have 1 or 2 more full-automatic rifles.

  • New enemy, the plasma guy, is just a guy with a different weapon. It doesn’t change much the tactics for us, IMO.

Like many of us said in other posts, nurgle giant flies, nurglings, other kind of enemies. Which ACTUALLY are different from what we have now.

  • New missions: 2 new missions would be good, even if the voice briefing is a cut from other briefings. And chats between chars.

Because after playing it much time… well It would be nice to have a pair of new missions.

I think I am not forgetting anything.

Thanks for reading.

Nice post, but there’s just one thing I need to ask:

Am I alone in being genuinely baffled about this sentiment? I’ve seen it mentioned several times but I’ve never really understood how Space Cop stomped only Vet specifically. When Arby dropped it was pretty clear that it was largely above the Rejects as a whole in several ways, but like… why/ how just Vet specifically?

Was it referring to the Puncture + Dog Bomb exploit vs Shredders before that was sorted, or when Razor-Jaw Augment was broke too? Something to do with the raw power of some of the unique weapons (Arby shotty  + SMaul  especially) vs Vet’s? Was it something else entirely? I can’t think of much more that would uniquely proverbially step on only Vet’s toes off the top of my head atm.

Idk, I’m just confused by it, especially now since the other class’ re-do’s last patch have done a decent enough job at equalising most things, at least temporarily, imo :person_shrugging:

Anyway, I know at the very least one thing is definitely still for certain: The Excutioner SG + the solo Arby Shock Maul need to be tossed into the interzone void at the start of Clandestium Gloriana :joy:

If those two weapons are primarily where the sentiment comes from, then ignore me, I understand completely :joy:

i enjoy vet much more since the rework due to the added flexibility of the tree.
the new bolter mark is an automatic grenade launcher, and kraks are much more useful.
also, vet got better at melee.
only raygun i use is the recon, and sparingly because i find the thing irritating when used by other vets.
helbore seems good when used by players who know it, but i can’t aim with that thing.

This is my exact experience with it aswell, I can’t make it work but I’ve seen people use it to great effect.

Well if you aim for the head they are actually good, even classic lasgun. Helbore is havoc ready gun now and last pistol with recon lasgun always were.

I assume that is before the recent reworks.

So, as I recall, on release, the big vet-toe-stepping things were:

Terminus Warrant being a better/easier Weapon Specialist
EO + all the ranged boost nodes right above and below it being essentially a better Executioner’s stance (more utility, better buffs?)
SUPER EASY access to the +25% ammo node ( that was a big one)
Damage boost on reload literally first node in the tree
Castigator Stance + Blessed armament (on top of cop’s survivability) making sniping/ranged play infinitely easier

These are the points I remember seeing at the time, others may add or clarify.
It certainly felt a lot easier to achieve a ranged-heavy play style than before the new rework.

Right ok, I get it a bit more now, cheers.

  • Big one I was completely forgot (which is obvious now): TW vs WS; though I’ll be honest, I never personally liked either so I kind of forget their existence in general :joy:
  • The EO stuff is an interesting one for me, I’ve always been a VF/ES enjoyer but I can see the similarities, though with it being a keystone instead of an ability, yeah I can see the grievances.
  • I’ve never really understood that 25% ammo node issue though personally, no matter the weapon, Survivalist has almost always kept me afloat with my Vet escapades :person_shrugging:
  • Damage boost being node 1 I can see annoying Vet’s with how early it is yeah
  • Castigators is another thing that should be Exterminatus’d imo :joy:

I guess the main thing the way I see it personally is that Vet has different options with certain things with stuff like: Survivalist, Field Improv, Shredders, Shout , Covering Fire, Serated Blade (especially since the talent re-shuffle), stuff like tag for any purple node bottom-o’-tree enjoyers, etc., whilst still doing mad melee + ranged, though obviously it may be down just to the way I play.

But yeah, regardless, thanks for that, I can see where that sentiment was coming from a fair bit better now

i think solid projectiles have it worse, although i’d be carefull on wanting low techs buffed to be viable in havoc

this game have suffered for a very long time from supposedly high tech iconic 40k weapons being outclassed by battered down makeshift farmtools

i don’t want that to be the case again, duelling sword is the last example of that and its unanimously recognized that the thing should be put below chainswords

this 100% true, but to be fair vet’s dead in patch 13 with the talent tree update and never coming back

Arbites does everything vet do but better, has more ranged damage with higher ammo efficency, more special killing potential and has crowd control and higher survivability as a bonus, with better toughness regen talents on top of the bonus

Summary

186 elites and 155 specials, did 120k more ranged damage with 30% less ammo pickups not counting that my damage is inflated by grenades

and he didn’t even had bleed on the dog

To answer you, I will use this as base:

When I will play, and I am like “hmmm I want to use some hard boi soldier now”, I go to choose veteran… but then I remember that Arbites is harder, stronger…

Sad.

Arbites are not “police officer” are “robocop”.

Recon lasgun with infernus and dum dum is pretty solid. After plasma I would say it’s even meta.

Yeah the R*ddit clipfarmer special for a while :joy:

Infernus + Dum Dum Recon Las w/ Onslaught, available from a Technoarcheologist near you!

Warning, side effects include: pug vets using this setup may forget they have a melee weapon & grenades and blame the squad when they fall down

Never saw that one, thanks.

Wait… in the end is not a Chaos Marine…

Is a Grey Knight?

Why?!

That’s actually VERY 40k. That Guardsman has simply seen too much. Dead men tell no tales.

Every blue moon i get one those rare hellbore vets who can competently use it for sniping elites and specialists. That gun lowkey puts plasma numbers to shame in aurics but you need to get git gud to push such numbas.

I dont mind laser guns being effective on weakspots only, problem is that gunners move/strafe way too much for any coherent aiming and the suppression mechanic is awful for precision weapons cause gunners move their heads away when they get suppressed (looking at you reapers).
