Mourningstar party instancing

Why do we not instance into the same mourningstar lobby as our friends in our party?

Because the networking of this game is already held together by paperclips, tissue lint and a dream (as evident by the massive lag spikes that happen any time someone leaves/joins the morningstar or does the same during a mission). And now you’re wanting them to:

  • Dynamically keep track of the number of operatives in your party
  • Block out that number of players within your morningstar instance, keeping others from joining/holding their spots even through class changes
  • Search for morningstar instances that only have enough space for your entire party, and make sure they all can join it

That’s just to much man. We already can barely have that last point only after finishing specifically a Havoc mission, and only if one gets lucky and actually joins a basically empty morningstar. I’d rather not incur the wrath of the infinite load screen (that which happens due to joining a morningstar that fills right as you try to join it, so you ‘wait for players’ or ‘wait for disk’ infinitely) any more than I have to. And I haven’t for honestly a decent while.

But I know many a havoc team member that has due to trying to join the same Morningstar instance and failing to do so for 15+ minutes at a time, so at this point I say ‘count your blessings’ that the warp hasn’t eaten us all completely already, and thank the emperor every time you simply successfully arrive at the morningstar, verses trying to stress his power by having your friends arrive with you  .

(granted, if they ever refactor/get a proper networking dev on their team, then maybe one can dream, but until then I get enough 2014’s and 2022’s while simply trying to exist, I don’t need more.)

(since this post got ‘pushed up’ again I’d like to edit in this was meant as satire, meant to poke fun at fatshark’s generally constant networking issues, and how what seems like such a simple change would likely take QUITE a while to get back into the game. I agree otherwise in the premise of just having this happen generally, just thought it would be funny to ‘overblow’ the problem like how the solution is probably a lot more complected on their networking spaghetti code.)

So your answer is we’re just lucky the game works at all.

this used to be the case, but for some reason its no longer the case.
i would like to see friends in the MorningStar, especially after completing a mission with them.
its that little bit of immersion that keeps you playing long hours into the night.

@FatsharkStrawHat can you shed any light on this issue or the devs awareness of it?

I just wanted to mention that, but you beat me to it – six days after the last post here.

I really miss being with my regular group in the same Mourning Star, to compare outfits or just see them running around, doing shopping etc.

So, I second your plea to make the devs aware that it’s missed dearly by some of us. (That said, it’d be even nicer if you’d be in the same place right after forming a party and not only after doing a mission together.)
