If they are going to be releasing all these new fancy conditions, they will need to be adding a mission selection soon. It’s going to get to the point some of us will never experience certain conditions because we weren’t on at that specific time etc. We should all be able to experience what we PAID for at any given time, not based on RNG. These updates are a step in the right direction, but there are still many things that should be top priority, like a mission selection.
i get the desire here not sure how practical it is i suspect the reason it isnt in the game already , the exact reason why they did the board like this is there was simply too many options in v2 and the playerbase was spread too thin and they didnt want to repeat that.
they could implement it for private games , suspect it ranks a bit below top priority though on the features needed llist. one day maybe.
That is actually something I thought about the other day, if they let players choose missions then people doing quickplay and doing the less popular missions will be stuck with bots all the time. The way missions are now, everyone has a chance to play with everyone because everyone is presented with the same choice. Once they take that away the player-base will have even more issues finding missions. I honestly don’t know a solution to this other than what you said, providing private games the ability to have a mission selection.
Wasn’t really a problem in VT2. That part can easily be solved by adding an extra insentive to quickplay. E.g. bonus mats and/or higher emp. blessing rating.
Techinal difficulties?
I don’t know anything about potential server limitations, but it has been brought up previously in discussions about mission slelection and it would be a more valid reason. If server limitations is a thing it could still be possible to present a specific mission type but the player to select difficulty and modifiers (multi-selection for semi-quickplay would also be possible). Someone more nettech-savvy would have to weigh in on whether it would be an option or not.
not so sure it wasnt an issue, i used to quicplay all the time id usually join a game with 1-2 other people mid game and DLC maps were rarer than hens teeth seemed to always be the same half a dozen or so original maps.
imo v2 didnt have the pop to support its options. regions may vary of course, i tended to play evening in the EU
That’s strange. I’m also speaking from an EU (north) perspective.
I pplayed plenty of both pre-made and QP but I played way less after (around) Engi release. I have played it afterwards on new class release, but never experienced empty games en masse (host or joining QP).
I think outside of private game handling all the specific would be too hard. But a custom game launch for premade could be great.
For public game I would like an option to quick launch with a random map and a random condition on it based on ALL those available and not just a rotating three.
This way the game could just pick all the team then make it specific and we would have some actual renewall rather than spamming the good map with the favorite condition available at a time.
Make it per difficulty and with an checkbox for with or without books and go.
Add a material bonus in the end for doing so like the difficulty time 60 for plasteel and time 30 for diamantine so people flock there and you can even use that crowd to complete those picking map on the selection screen faster.
