Minor question about the current skull 2026 event

Possibly stupid question for you folk at FS @FatsharkLev , but I really could not find an article giving specified details about it here or elsewhere: Does playing at a higher difficulty give you increased progress towards the global event counter?

The global event counter is most likely fake.

The numbers and how they increase doesn’t make any sense if you look at the size of the playerbase.

I’m also a bit unclear on how progress is suppose to work. Is it the number of idols broken, or the number of skulls picked up, or are idols counted as a large number of skulls? I had thought when you went to melk and needed to open the next level, it was perhaps an idol count, with the skulls counting to the other progress of other rewards… but now I think it’s tiers on the skulls by the whole community… ? I can’t find anything on this event in announcements.

Launcher says:

It seems the Admonition are back at it with their accursed rituals again. This time, they seem to be using some sort of technological locus to focus their foul energies. Stop them now and retrieve the sacred artifacts. Hadron wishes to study them.

Proceed with caution, each Idol eradicated increases the difficulty of the mission.

Destroying and decoding artifacts will contribute towards a global community goal. Should the operatives of Tertium succeed,

All participating players will be rewarded with 500 Aquilas.

So it’s idol count not skull count… right?

Eyo! So…

@Justag33k1005 can confirm that playing at higher difficulties does not give increased progress.

@SlenderBarracuda Servo skulls decoded inside Totems count towards the community goal.

Thank you! For a moment I wasn’t sure if it was the skull drops or the idol skulls. It actually kind of looked like I had to have a certain number of idols to get the next level, and it kind of looked like the idol count unlocked lore chunks, but on closely look it’s premium currency.

I’ll get back to hunting these, though I’d also like to suggest that maybe a bit more of a description would be helpful. Didn’t even know I needed to talk to Melk at first!

they’re keeping this event cryptic to keep with the theme, it’s not even on the steam news still

so since it’s the totems decoded that count for it i’m doing the mental math on this… almost 40 millions completed so far and there’s how many of these totems per mission? 5?

summin aint right, that would mean people played almost 8 million missions in 5 days lol. that would mean something like 70’000 missions started per hour. 1000 per minute. with 30 minute missions average that means there would be 35’000 missions up at any point on average. for the record there are 8500 people playing right now

i detect a bungling of numbers

When I was playing the event the totem decodes seemed to be worth a large amount of skulls on mission complete. But I could be wrong. Completed the event so I can’t see anymore.

oh that would totally check out if it was the skulls from the decodes. but i have no idea how many those give so i can’t math it

Yeah in 8 missions I got 1000 skulls. No way we picked that many up one at a time. Pretty sure the decodes give you a bunch just not sure what. So the community event, I assume, is all skulls collected.

i think i remember back in vt2 they had a similiar even with a deadline and during the last 24 hours the counter suddenly went from like 50% to 100% despite it being on for a week or so.

Each totem gives either 20 or 25 skulls (didn’t play the event more than once, I’m not really interested in that frame)

Assuming this counts for each player, we can assume it’s the same as the tech remnants collected on a mission for the community goal (basically, multiplied by 4)

Assuming it’s 25 skulls per totem, and there being 5 totems each mission, that means each mission in total is 500 skulls towards the community counter (as well as the manually picked up on the floor skulls that also get multiplied by 4)

So around 600 skulls each mission completed

We had one of those events early in the life of Darktide too where the global event timer magically jumped over night.

Thank you for taking the time to answer sir. No more questions from me for a few months I hope
