Mid-game leavers and matchmaking not filling in the empty slots

I think it happens more often when there’s crossplay going on - when there are players from multiple means are present at same time such as PC, PS, and Xbox players are all present in the lobby.

Once a player leaves the game mid-match, I assumed that it should automatically refill those with players who queued via quickplay, but those slots, for some reason, get reserved(?) or something.
These empty slots will never fill up mid-game and leaves players that are still playing at significant disadvantage.

AFAIK, it depends on how the player is leaving. If they leave “clean” by menu, their slot becomes available immediately. If they just kill the game via Alt+F4 (don’t know if there’s an equivalent on consoles), their slot will be reserved for some time (5 minutes?) to give them a chance to reconnect if their game crashed or they lost connection.

But I also have experienced missions where empty slots were never filled again for the rest of the mission. :face_with_monocle: :red_question_mark:

Once a maelstrom is off the board no one is able to click on it and join it, so if you have anyone leave, you will not get replacement teammates unless someone uses a mod to join. Same thing happens to regular missions as well, once they are ‘old’ enough matchmaking is turned off for the mission before it expires a while later. Missions only last for ~190 minutes before expiring and are on the mission board for ~20 minutes i think? Matchmaking gets turned off sometime after it leaves the board. Before the rework it used to turn off around the 1 hour mark, so that might still be the same

That would explain Maelstrom, but shouldn’t normal mission be available via Quickplay? At least it seems to me that this wasn’t a problem some months ago.

I ended up doing a 45 minute hab dreko run with bots. The tree puzzle was a nightmare to do.

Finally made it through and then the server just booted me out right before the finish line. Good times.

its gotten worse recently. quickplay will now put players in story missions that have half the normal spawns this is why people are avoiding it.

I just joined a game with 3 bots and the game had just started. Last game we had a bot then someone else joined then that same person crashed like 3 minutes later and we lost with a bot. Wtf is wrong with these servers theyre abysmal. It almost seems like a combination of horrible players in auric who die and leave cuz they suck but simultaneously it seems like a server issue all rolled into one bs problem. The quality of teammate rn in auric is absolutely horrible and you combine that with bots everywhere and you have a recipe for what were currently dealing with. Weve been dealing with leavers who die repeatedly and leave or leave the first time they go down but given that these games also arent backfilling its exacerbating the issue by like a thousand percent. I already have horrible teammates you cant then expect me to play with bots at any given time throughout the same mission. Its not even worth my time to play this game currently.

Missions are supposed to backfill with people quickplaying when that happens but they broke something with the latest update that makes that not really work properly. You combine that with faster mission timers and this is what you get.

Something’s definitely been broken since this Rotten (fitting name) event has started.

Nearly every mission i did this weekend was filled only with bots and never filled with players. I tried this with different difficulties and it had the same result.

Every Rotten mission i did this weekend, i ran into this issue. Nobody joining me during the lobby countdown or during the mission regardless of the difficulty i tried. I managed to find two or three lobbies with other people. The rest i had to complete with the useless bots.

Those crap bots are worthless even on Uprising. Never mind the rest of difficulties. Can’t believe that they haven’t improved the bots at fakkin all.

they backfill for as long as matchmaking it turned on. Before the mission board rework, missions used to expire after 24 hours, and quickplay would be turned off for those missions ~1 hour after they started, so you could have the mission all to yourself for roughly ~23 hours if you have the mod to join them(MMT). You could freely join and play any mission older than ~1 hour and you would not ever get teammates unless a friend joined you or someone else with the same mod joined the same mission

It included all mission types - rotten armor, maelstrom, normal auric, etc.

I think someone mentioned above about matchmaking got borked and does not let quickplay to fill in the empty slots when the mission comes off the board.

This started happening ever since they put Rotten armor missions up.

My “favorite” part of no backfill has been watching so many players, I assume newer ones, risk (and often lose) their lives trying to save the bots. More power to you if you’re farming penances I guess, but save yourself homes. That servitor isn’t worth it.

My actual favorite part is when I get 1-2 good teammates and we get to duo or trio a mission. Especially fun challenge on the event.

Well, it depends on the mission and my fellow teammates. Sometimes that servitor isn’t the worst player by far, so I’d save it if reasonably possible, but I won’t backtrack half of the map for it either.

i love dropping in the middle of the worst situations and trying to make the best of them, i wish quickplay allowed you to select ongoing games or new ones as the preferred join

In my experience, it didn’t happen much in the past.

But since 1 or 2 months, it happens A LOT.
