When another player quits (likely via Alt-F4), the matchmaking system often does not add/backfill another player for the entire duration of the match.
I know it takes a long time for the game to stop “saving” the spot of a player who Alt-F4’s instead of quitting out at the menu, but that feels closer to five minutes or so. I just had a quit out on Clandestium Gloriana at the beginning, and we were left with a bot for 20+ minutes
I’ve noticed this many times over the last couple weeks.
I only play Damnation/Auric public games, I know Havoc doesn’t backfill players.
Only sometimes, does another player join after a long while.
game does take longer to backfill afterwards but its gotten worse lately.
i’ve been finishing missions now with far fewer players at the end, considering the game has now PS5 and 5k extra players than average on steam i think it has something to do with the new mission board.
Game is pretty much unplayable on Auric now. Almost every match 2 players will ragequit leaving a duo trying to complete with bots for the rest of the mission.
They’re still on their vacation. Won’t be fixed till nearing September, most likely, I think, approximately till the next hotfix hits or if it does. Would be nice to have some staff on hand to come in & do a quick fix, but we’ll have to wait it out, sadly. It’s really unacceptable that they leave it in such a broken state for people who paid for that DLC, especially.
The first hotfix since their vacation should be today, so we’ll see what they have out. The problem then is all the the other issues found during the vacation.
I’ve also experienced this multiple times now… Have had to finish Auric / Auric Maelstroms with just 3 players since of course there are still people who are trying to cheese A.S.S. and Auric Exemplar penances. This happens even when they quit early on in the mission, so it’s still on the Mission Terminal which should mean they can be backfilled. But they don’t and we’re stuck with a Bot who just dies constantly.
Somebody told me it has something to do with the mission’s pool refresh timer. I.e. that gauge you see above mission’s icon that starts going down as soon as mission appears in the pool, and when it’s at 0 mission is removed - that dude told me that if you start mission closer to this timer running out, you very likely won’t see people joining it. It seems like system won’t send players to missions that have just rotated out of the pool - but are still played by somebody. What is just stupid imo, all already ongoing matches must have opportunity for players using the quick play feature to join them.
I’m looking on twitch and everyone in the event has bots.
Previously you could quickplay into non-maelstrom auric missions after the timer expired, rotten armor was when I first noticed the lack of backfilling but I’m not sure if its events or all non maelstrom missions and some kind of clarity would be greatly appreciated.
Since writing this I’ve tried testing this with mods, I quick played very rapidly and the only missions I found are the ones currently on the board (not maelstroms because it was never possible to backfill maelstrom in quickplay or via the maelstrom option once a maelstrom expires, like the person with the maelstrom I-II video in this thread seems to believe).
still here, still annoying, I see the event mission have like 25 minute timers now thats cool, its longer than the new 15 minute timer on regular mission and backfilling is still missing xdding
North America East
Auric/Auric Maelstrom
Its consistent and happens on every single mission that leaves the mission board
I have around 10 people in my block list
There’s a few ways to easily reproduce this as well, for example if you start a mission with usually 20 seconds left on the board or less, unless other people in the same region also join the mission in those last few seconds, quickplay will not give you any teammates, I just played an Auric Hi Intensity mission by myself a couple hours ago because I knew I wouldn’t get any teammates.
You can also easily reproduce it with the Many More Try mod, which can let you start a mission that has already left the mission board(kinda does what quickplay is supposed to do). Literally pick any mission that’s at least older than 20-30 minutes(since thats how long missions are on the board and usually how long a mission can take to finish) and you will USUALLY load into an empty mission and you will not get teammates no matter how long you wait, until the mission expires after ~3 hours.
There is also the chance to load into an ongoing game if you use Many More Try and just so happen to pick a mission with a team that has an open spot(s) available.
The main issue itself, quickplay not joining into ongoing games that have left the mission board, started after the mission board rework/ Battle for Tertium update. Missions went from lasting 24 hours to just over 3. I never did extensive testing but quickplay used to load you into games that were up to ~1-2 hours old, after that quickplay would be disabled and the missions would go on ‘empty’ for the next 22ish hours, unless you used Many More Try to start one. But since the whole mission board rework, as soon as the mission leaves the board, quickplay seemingly get turned off like it used to after a couple hours.
Now there is 1 thing I kinda like about it being this way, its way easier to start solo missions this way since its so easy to replicate, so for any Solo Mode enjoyers this is the best thing they have until an offical solo mode is added if that ever happens
