This post is made in part due to the upcoming crafting update, but I’m also just butthurt in general.
Melk’s premium shop where you spend melkbux to acquire shootas an’ choppas is only really worth it ATM to grind weapons into blessings for Hadron to use. Considering that the crafting update is going to break the locks and improve base stats for items across the board, I’m concerned that Melk’s shop will end up being entirely useless when it drops.
Here’s my proposal:
Items in Melk’s shop, whether purchased from the daily rotation or randomly, are guaranteed to have a high base stat amount, and maybe a higher potential stat amount as well.
Conversely, Brunt’s armory should have more variance with its base stats, to make up for its spammability. You can’t really do the same thing with Melk.
Whatever the case, weapons from Brunt’s should still have the potential to equal or exceed Melk’s.
Yeah I feel that too. Melk becoming obsolete when any weapon can become 380. The good news is that fatshark has left 120 points open for (theoretical) future reds. I can see Melk having reds for like 10k melkbux, or have some sort of assignment system like DRG for a red. This is all of course assuming fatshark wants to break past the 380 cap eventually.
Melk’s purpose in the current crafting system is to hunt for blessings. I think Melk will matter even less in the upcoming crafting update. If the only thing you are looking for is stat distribution, it does matter what level it is at, then even if Melk has higher base stats I’m still not going to wait for a weapon with a good distribution to roll in, I’m just going to spam brunts for it.
I believe they said this in the last crafting AMA, but the only point of Melk after the update will be to try a weapon with blessings you might not have unlocked yet.
is an answer from the announcement pt1. That implies that there’s in effect a new currency (“mastery”) that you just spend on the blessings you want, regardless of whether you had them in the old world.
So yeah - Melk, huh, what is he good for? Probably even less than now.
i hope that melk will matter less, because his contracts “lock” me into playing a certain character until his contract is done. ok, i don’t have to, but i want to have my melk cake and eat it too.
otherwise, he barely has anything worth buying for actual use, not just ripping the blessing off. found a 380 base shovel last week, but that’s one in several weeks of checking his pompous flea market.
edit: btw, most items he sells are gimped in a way that makes it impossible to upgrade them to perfect stats as long as we can change only 2 of 4 blessings / perks. that won’t matter with the new system, but then, i’d rather craft my stuff myself… unless melk becomes the only source for red weapons, as suggested above.
