Me and my friends won't play until Demonhost is gone or changed

  1. they can span in areas where you HAVE To move past them at too close a distance. They canalso spawn in, for example, those pox walker groups or sit behind a large horde running towards the team. Also, others have reported them spawning directly in your face or being aggro’d without anything happening

  2. they show up in NORMAL Missions. Not only Dark.

I do support them being easier to avoid in certain places.

git gud

Daemonhost is fine. You, as well as the randos you play with will get better, both at fighting it, and at avoiding it. It just takes some time and patience to git gud.

I personally don’t see them as a big problem because they are quiet easy to avoid. At least in my ca 20 encounters it always would have been possible to avoid them.
BUT
They are really not fun to fight at all…
It absolutely feels like they are not meant to be fought against which is a shame in my opinion.
Right now they seem to be a fairly pointless addition to the game for me.
Very easy to avoid, not fun to fight.

All the fights with Demonhosts that I witnessed so far either went one of two ways.

  1. Ogre with shield had the Agro:
Its just “Whack the demonhost until its dead”. No challenge just hitting a damage sponge. Most boring two minutes i had in the game so far…

  2. Low stanima teammates have Agro:
They die and Demonhost dissapears. Also not fun.
I never had aggro so i have no clue how hard it is to survive.

I would love to see him have way less health but teleport arround doing charging attacks on players, being a lot harder to hit but not so tanky.
A very agile but dangerous miniboss.

Innitially i was very excited when i first met one cause sound design and animation are really cool but now they are just really boring and a bit dissapointment to me.

There’s a little door to the left, but you have to open it manually. I know this can seem very hard, but try pressing the button right next to it!

I’m sad to hear you didn’t like it. I love how terrifying this thing is. It’s been my favorite part of the game and I thought it was really well designed.

You get plenty of audio cues when you are getting near one. They can be snuck past. If you annoy one it murders whoever annoyed it the most. If your team can’t handle it, it kills two people and warps out. It’s absolutely the kind of enemy that causes massive amounts of grief and drama for 2 weeks. Then it is never an issue again after people learn how to deal with it. It’s exactly like encountering a witch for the first time in l4d.

So sure, don’t play the game if you don’t like encountering a terrifying over the top foe. But if that’s the case why are you playing a 40k game designed specifically for you to be a pathetic human fighting off horrible nightmares? That’s the whole point of this game!

I don’t think they’re hard enough.

You can always try again, too.

Sometimes they keep on fighting after sucking someone’s soul.

They were only common on the reveal hour. Now they are very rare.

Right?! Remember how they solved this exact same issue of bosses not being rewarding in VT2 with loot dice? Crafting mats would be the obvious, easy equivalent to use in DT. It’s frustrating that FS spends such a long time fixing and improving their games post release, then forget 50%+ of the lessons they’ve learnt when they release their next game.

My first encounter had me targeted first. I had no idea what it was going to do, which is kind of OK with other bosses since they eventually lose interest and chase someone else.
This one just kept wailing on me nonstop. Even if I created some distance, it just teleported to me and kept on wailing until I ran out of stamina and got downed (since dodge stops stam regen lol). Then it just killed me. Then I waited to be rezzed for 5 minutes alongside the other guy that got ganked.

Fun stuff.

My second encounter ended in me getting abused by a teammate because I apparently should’ve been damaging the boss instead of soloing the horde + elites + specials they engaged right before triggering the boss, so the team didn’t get instantly overwhelmed while fighting it.

This left a really sh**ty aftertaste for the daemonhost.

I love the concept, but past that? Not so sure…

  • Most randos go “haha gun go brrrrrrr” towards anything that isn’t a player

in their defence, up until now that was a pretty darn good way to approach the game :stuck_out_tongue:

Loot from bosses was patched in ~2-3 years after V2 came out. I wouldn’t expect it to be in DT for a few years.

Meanwhile if I just agro it as ogryn and press middle mouse in a corner it never swaps target, but isn’t able to break my shield, making the boss fight trivial while my three team mates whale on it from behind.

The game is completely broken right now.

Honestly, lots of hyperboling going on here.
I personally find the Daemonhosts to be perfectly fine. They have an intended purpose and they do this intended purpose wonderfully.
They punish mindlessness and reward good traversal of the level or coming well-prepared. They are not particularly hard to deal with either, even if you mess up and do get them active. But as I stated earlier, they punish mindlessless. Too many play this game with their brains ‘switched off’ because they believe that a Hordeshooter means easily M1 clicking everything to death is a thing.

All teamwipes and player deaths I had or witnessed against the Daemonhost could have been easily avoided and were the fault of the player who died - And that’s more than I can say about many other enemies here. As I said it on the Steam forums, it’s not a skill check, it’s an intellect/awareness check.

My biggest issue with the DH is that its too easy. All you need is an Ogryn with a shield to start the fight. Use your shield wall ability. Everyone else is free to kill the boss with 0 risk to themselves.

Why would you ever willingly fight a deamon host? You are supposed to avoid it. Every time it has showed up for me it has been possible to avoid (even thou about half those times in PUGs, some moron pulls it while we’re fighting a horde and wipes us).

Since this thread is still getting responses perhaps it is important to stress that this post was relevant in the beta when it was apparently intended for a short while that daemonhosts were spawning in every level.

Even from the get go, daemonhosts ARE easy for a co-ordinated team and easy enough to dodge when they spawn as intended.
However with randoms/lower skill players it is not a great experience for all and the spawning locations are still a dice roll as to whether they can be evaded or not.
We are still at times seeing spawns in single progression path spots.

For futher context daemonhosts were also more durable when first added.
I appreciate all the feedback, the context has now changed however.
As some say daemonhosts are either too easy for good groups or not fun for beginner players.
Still doesn’t strike as great design but at least they are getting better at the spawning points.

Could you at least provide screenshots of such spots? Personally i have not encountered a single demnhost that could not be avoided in any of the maps.
