Me and my friends won't play until Demonhost is gone or changed

Anyone think maybe some of the people talking are like:

"Yeah, we always defeat it. After it kills two of us it gets a lot easier and we shoot it a bit and poof, it’s gone! We won easy, only two casualties.’

??

Seriously though, I think this game has some real issues with not playing sounds, especially warning sounds, correctly or sometimes at all. I’m not sure how to address it though.

I’ve also had at least one instance where it abruptly spawned on top of a player, and another where a bot triggered it.

The daemonhost just feels like a landmine with awkward, excessively punishing mechanics.

I’ve just avoided them. They’re really easy to just walk by in most cases.

Usually, Daemonhosts are quite loud, and you can tell where they’re sitting based on directional sound. I’ve had a few instances, though, where their sounds didn’t match their location or where they made no sound at all (e.g., in the spiral staircase of the Torrent Interrogation mission at the start of the map). Might be a similar issue to Vermintide 2 where certain sounds get overwritten if too many are playing at once, since neither myself and the other player who walked onto the DH heard it.

I know this will sound elitist but demon host is not to bad for any team to fight UNLESS your also getting swarmed.or don’t know how to fight it.

I play zealot and when any one on the team triggers it I instantly rush it with my charge and start hitting as fast as I can.
This gets agrro on me then you “simply” hold block walk backwards and wait for the swings to start.
The patten is just left to right and dodge the other way while holding block.
Once the combo is done you can even stab them.
Then they teleport and do it again.

When you get swarmed at the same time and you got agrro just get away from the horde and hope to God a dog or net doesn’t get you and keep kiteing it and wait for your team finish the horde.

Isn’t it just as toxic to say “The Demonhost is the worst designed enemy I have seen in a video game in a long time” to the devs as it is for us to say “get good”.
(maybe try the approach of “my friends and I had issues with the daemonhost how do we deal with them?” and you might get some useful responses)

Reality is they suck sometimes, sometimes with people who know what to do they are no issue.
Most of the time avoid it because taking ANY risk that is not needed is a waste.
You and/or your team has full control of IF or WHEN you engage it.

“It needs to be blockable or dodgable for the majority of players”
It is? sure if you keep blocking it with 0 stamina you start taking damage but that’s part of the point that other people need to actually do damage to it and not just let it bash you until you die.

If everything in this game was easy so that the majority of players destroyed everything first time they saw it it wouldn’t make for a fun or challenging game.

Demonhost can be tanked infinitely by a Ogryn with a shield, as far as I’ve seen. As long as the rest of the team stands back and attacks it, it CAN be killed. I have gotten the achievement, though it was hard.

The one feature I would like to see added to the Demonhost is that you can interrupt it when it goes to drain someone’s soul, instead of just watching or attacking helplessly as it kills two team members.

The other thing I’d like to mention is… why not just avoid it? o.o; You don’t HAVE to kill it, and it usually appears in a location that lets you skirt around it.

I still don’t have any issue with the general design of the DH, and successfully avoid it in PUGS… literally every map I’ve played over the last few days to a week.

However, god damn they spawn way too often. I feel like I see them at least 3x more often than any other boss, I just go into missions expecting to see one almost every time now. It’s really silly, turning the encounter into a chore rather than a potential tense and exciting encounter.

Have BIG OGRYN… no worry 'bout stinkin Daemon. Ogryn tank dem with any weapon. (If not running an Ogryn, well too bad.)

It is an infurating monster, but it can be blocked by just about anything. I literaly can kyte it with a combat knife for about 5mins, but my teammates never manage to kill it lol.

I think there should be insentive to killing it, because as everyone is saying just avoiding it the only way to go.

Yeah, pretty much this. Rarely had ANY problems at all, especially on higher difficulties, since everyone at that point knew how to handle it, ie. sneak past or use shield. It’s only on the lower levels, when I’m levelling up a new character that it sometimes becomes an issue, but that’s because of newer players not knowing that maybe you shouldn’t be shooting at the large, whispering daemon.

In any case, yeah, they also appear way too often to be some special monster.

Daemonhost is a obstacle, hence why there is no reward for fighting it.

Would you ask for a reward for maneuvering through a minefield? No you would ask someone why they decided to take the more difficult route for no reason.

Daemonhost is basically like accidentally hitting a explosive barrel with your melee weapon, you’re not supposed to hit it, thats why there’s no reward for fighting it.

Even the characters all say something like, “theres a daemonhost nearby, don’t wake it up.”

You’re not supposed to fight it, you get punished if you do.

Also even if you fight it, if your whole team can focus on it with no other mobs around, you should survive long enough for your team to kill it if you hold block while backing up, if not then someone in the team should have better gear before you do that difficulty bc daemonhost is not very durable.

They just have to add a stagger mechanic to demon host also mutants, thats all they need.

Not in an abusable way in daemon host case, something that just gives the target a breathing time, even the l4d witch had it, i just don’t want them to remove it at all, this game needs more enemies not less.

My upload speed is awful so here’s some short compressed video of how to fight it when you got no shield.

Gonna bump for some garbage player interaction I’ve noticed with the DH. You can aggro it and leave the lobby, which moves its aggro off that bot and to a human player. Just had a guy trigger it in a Damnation run, cryptically type ‘have fun’ in the chat and leave. Really engaging enemy design the whole way through, trying to move around a room full of shooters with a couple elites in your face and a DH you never interacted with warps to you. I guess we all need to follow Hedge’s advise and just never pug this game.

But its a DPS race (concept from MMOs that been around forever). Ogryns and psykers, zealots with certain builds/weapons can tank it for more than enough time

if your gear or composition isn’t working just go around it until you can find better gear.

the only thing that really needs to change, is reward for killing it. getting nothing for it just makes it a waste of time (and I wouldnt say its a landmine cos it stands out like a sore thumb)
