I recall a few challenges in VT2 being hard - but most of them just required taking a particular weapon and/or doing a particular mission at a particular difficulty. At least all the big ones that rewarded skins/cosmetics were this way. E.g. kill all four bosses with weapon X to get a new skin (no problem), or complete each level on Legend difficulty with character Y (okay, sounds good). There were some crazy tough ones, but those mostly just rewarded a small amount of coins that didn’t matter much if you did or didn’t complete it.
And of course there were private lobbies if you did want to try and farm for something.
DT needs private lobbies, the rest of the crafting system, and shared resources + weeklies like ASAP.
I did a level 1 run today because I needed 300 experience to hit level 30. Lo and behold the lobby I joined had 3 other level 30s all rushing the level to complete weeklies. Thankfully there wasn’t a poor level 1 player in there!
Can you all just focus on having fun with other people instead of being sweaty gamers going for meaningless cosmetics and shiny stickers? Granted, I’m not at 30 yet, but so far, I’m not having much trouble doing matches, and the penences I get are stuff you prog without thinking about it.
Cool, so lets chill about the with the apparent issue that gameplay is being ruined for ppl and handwave it with “muh cosmeticus”. Just because you are allowed to do something doesn’t always make it a good idea.
idk what you are even talking about, all I’m saying is that until they fix things, the best players can do is to stop thinking about cosmetics and gearmaxing and just have a good time playing while improving in the pace that is overall greatest for actually having a good time playing.
People keep talking about it because there hasn’t been ackowledgement, the best we got is a CM saying “well group up”, and in some cases some penances even got worse after feedback
Me, i’m asking for better in game LFG altogether, because it’s not acceptable that a game claiming to be geared towards teamwork relies on Discord to organise proper matches
Well, here is my very easy plan that you could also follow until things get fixed.
Play a class until 30 and find a difficulty you feel good with
Forget about cosmetics and gearmaxing
Explore how endgame is with your class
Level the other classes too
If you can’t have fun, play something else.
VT was never the game i played the most for any lengthy period of time. I feel this format doesn’t lend itself well to that. The weeklies, the penences, the grinding, it seems like Fatshark are trying to add mmorpg element to this, thinking they can mold a 20-30 min adrenaline rush game to be your main game that you do stuff in all day. It’s a great game to play in bursts, that is imo what VT’s strength was and that’s still here.
Okay, well, you don’t sound particularly happy, and a fair bit sweaty as well. So hope whatever you are doing works out great for ya. Btw, loved your Darkest Dungeon mods, hope you’ll do stuff for the sequel too. Also, if I got the wrong muscarine then oops, embaressing haha
Yes, many of the penances are actively disruptive to teamplay. Not challenging or handicapping, but active trolling. I hope Fatshark changes them, but I doubt it’s going to happen.
Having said that, you people aren’t helpless actors forced to troll. You make your choices, self-centered as they may be.
Thank you, this so much. They do suck and they should be reworked, but nobody is being held at gunpoint being forced to go into public games and ruin other peoples’ fun. The game offering you a new shirt for doing it doesn’t make that decision any less dubious.
So to be clear, yes they should redesign them, no, the current design isn’t an excuse for literally anybody to be a clown and let Penances ruin the experience for themself or others.
