After Update #9 many users are getting terrible stuttering every few seconds during missions. Game is unplayable due to this. No mods running or anything. Players in my lobby commenting about it, and it’s been posted on Reddit and Steam as well.
Update/Edit
This is a shader issue. Play a few games and it will go away.
I loaded into a Damnation run and the first 20 seconds were pure crap (and death) … by the time they got me up it was noticeably better, only had one or two more bad janks the entire run.
Lol play a game or two with the most horrendous frame stuttering I have ever seen. How can this seriously still be an issue at this point? Its painful to do but its the only fix.
Why is the topic updated to fixed ? Having to play like this everytime you boot the game to fix it, is not a fix.
We need a hotfix, and these fatshark marketing ghouls also need a hotfix on their corrupted soul, so they can start considering doing something else than worshiping money.
They are insulting their customers so blatantly with all this BS that I’m surprised everybody is still that kind to them.
Yeah this happens every time they change the shaders.
Games can compile shaders one of two ways. They can do it all upfront when the game loads, which can mean sitting at a loading screen for several minutes on a marginal computer. Or they can compile shaders as you encounter new things during gameplay. Vermintide and Darktide both use the latter. Personally I would prefer the former because it doesn’t cause stuttering.
Can confirm I had this exact problem for about two games’ worth of playtime, but now it’s gone. That is to say, I only actually completed one mission, and spent the rest of the time just running about the Mourningstar, the Meatgrinder, and looking through various menus/inventory.
no, it doesn’t actually. darktide does shader precompliation, or did in every patch to this one. there’s something wrong that is breaking that step in this patch (i think it’s a bad shader since some are reporting it going to 99% and failing). if it didn’t, you would have seen complaints like this thread from launch and every time there was a patch or GPU driver update.
also not every time you boot the game. every time you install or patch the game, or update your drivers, will cause this issue. until they fix the shader precache, which i am anticipating currently this week. kind of thing that happens with dx12 games all the frigging time, unfortunately.
The system appears to be quite borked because I constantly see black squares on every conceivable surface for a few moments before things “finish loading” and appear normal.
