Seeing no topics about this so putting this here. This seems different from the usual shader issues, since that goes away after loading an area.
Since the patch I’ve had like 40-50% of my usual FPS just hanging around in Mourningstar, it’s a completely unplayable slideshow. Never since release have I had this happen before, and more ppl on Steam forums are experiencing the same.
The graphics settings seemed to have stayed the same through the patch. But I haven’t had the chance to actually play a match to see how bad it gets since I still haven’t been able to unlock the blessings so they actually stuck, and keep getting booted out of the game when I try.
It’s ok tho I can use the break. But I hope the performance problems are found & addressed fast. Thanks for reading!
I’ve played the new train mission twice, and started two other different missions.
Without fiddling with the settings this new patch brought in, I’m getting about 70 fps at QHD (confirmed by screen and by Geforce Experience), but it feels like 30 … at best. It’s horrible.
I wondered if it was the train mission. But no, it’s the same in other missions.
I then went to look in my graphics settings, which I’d adjusted to be “perfect” for my modest set up… but since I hadn’t changed these in 18 months I admit I couldn’t remember what these should be. I know I don’t need any of the AMD settings.
I’ll admit I didn’t actually measure the FPS now but last I checked ages ago it was usually around 80-100:ish and I play 60fps games regularly enough. What DT has now is way worse than that.
Worse, there’s now an actual mouse delay, like looking left or right drags ~0.1s+ behind the movement. I can say from past games it isn’t even worth trying to play a game like that. Hence the slideshow comment. x.x
Haven’t played a mission yet, but in the Morningstar I was usually solid at 72 fps (the cap I set). No running around it’s around 50-55 fps and feels worse.
@Elodie Not sure that new drivers did all that much, but it might be a clean install that rebuilt all the cache. I’m at QHD with Nvidia DLSS on, super res = auto, and reflex low latency on. Ray Tracing off obvs. Graphics preset = Med. 2070Super.
DL:ing them rn. Tried a mission and it’s completely unplayable.
So I have an i9-9900k OC’d, 16GB RAM and a 3070-Ti playing on 1440p ultrawide on mostly low/mid settings. While ppl have steadily complained about the performance since release, for me it’s always run smoothly. Besides the shader stutters which pass quickly.
Now? In mission there was almost a half second delay just moving my mouse. There’s no chance at all anyone could ever possibly play like this. It’s a fraction of the performance it used to be.
Also the new Scrier’s talent Warp Unbound (Scrier’s Gaze prevents you from overloading from Perils of the Warp during its lingering effect)? Idk what it does but it isn’t that. Took it for a quick test in the grinder too and you’ll blow yourself up just fine same as ever.
Oh! Hey someone over at Steam noted a new (or not idk) AMD setting was on by default in the launcher! After both getting new drivers for my Nvidia and disabling that setting, the game runs smoothly again!
Crashing every single time on mods tho but at least it’s playable performance-wise.

using the steam in-game overlay, my fps was 100 (shooting up to 180+) at times. but the game ‘felt’ sluggish. Looking at the specs others posted, the following may not be entirely applicable.
main issue: AMD FSR 3.1 Frame Generation was enabled by default. per the patch notes, there’s issues with it, but my problem is when frame gen is enabled, my framerate limiter (either via NVCP or in-game) is entirely being ignored – as I mentioned earlier, my fps was all over the place. i could force a fps limitation by enabling v-sync in-game, at the cost of increased latency, so I’ve disabled frame generation until they iron its implementation out.
I am experiencing overall performance degradation, but what got my attention is I went into a game on my psyker with a dueling sword and I noticed the block animation is significantly longer and I thought it was lag.
in-game settings:
2560 x 1440
borderless fullscreen
v-sync off
dlss: balanced
reflex: on
framerate cap 120
rt: off
texture quality: high
other various settings: med and off
I noticed some erm interesting things going on too… but a bit of tinkering and ive fixed it myself. I still notice though in the new crafting menus my fans spool up a bit. Nothing like when the patch first came out though. At first thought my pc was about to blow up.
edit
Same thing happened to me at first I clicked all the buttons to allocate my points too fast and the game kicked me to the menu.
Re-joined and allocated the mastery points more slowly and let the notifications go each time.
Then go back out the menu to the morning star.
Then go back to the mastery menu and it’ll update. If you spam it too fast you get kicked i think. When i spammed them in i got kicked every time… anyhow its done now, gl!
I also had some funny stuff going on, high GPU usage and stuttering in the Mourningstar.
I switched back and forth from borderless to fullscreen a few times, turned some stuff on and off then on again, like vsync and DLSS; and then things went back to normal.
