Make Deflector a Base Feature of Forceswords

Seriously, this should be a base feature of the Forcesword to make them more fun and unique.

This recent “fix” only made the Forceswords less fun and people play video games to have fun, so add the fun “deflector bug” back to the Forceswords please.

You’ll also obviously need to remove the deflector blessing with this change, or rework deflector into something else, like deflecting the bullets back into the enemies.

i disagree,
it made the deflector Blessing useless as everything already acted as it had deflector.
yes it was nice to have the option of trying another blessing on my forceswords and being able to have the advantages of both was fun for a time,

but in lore forceswords never blocked Ranged fire on their own, it was always because of the power Psyker using them, so im fine with this change back, its not going to weaken forceswords as they are still very fun to use and play with.

So by that logic, since we use them as psykers…

Not saying that deflector should be built in. Just pointing out that you are defeating yourself with your reasoning.

Slightly OT, but I’ve always wondered how the game would have looked if deflector had been the standard special feature of staves, rather than the useless melee attack…

Realistically though, deflector probably won’t become a standard feature, and it probably shouldn’t be. Actually I think deflector is a bit overrated TBH. It’s one of those things that you learn to use less and less the more experience you get. These days I can play through game after game on damnation and not even remember that I have it, and I’m by no means the best psyker.

I use it more and more.
You can use it to rush down groups of ranged units and slay them before they spread out.

Of course this is something that Zealots and Ogryn should do, but they usually don’t.

I think force swords in general need fewer blessings with all the RNG. 12 is too much. All weapons should be brought into similar amounts due to the RNG… or just remove the locks and the more blessings the better.

I don’t know that I want it to be a base feature; most of my problems with it being a Blessing relate more to the equipment grind/RNG/locks than it does to it using up a Blessing slot.

It’s a decent feature, I’m okay with it using up a Blessing.

The problem, however, is that it’s one of those Blessings that, if you want it, nothing else is interchangable.

By a majority, most blessings in the game basically boil down to “you do more damage if you do X” - there’s definitely some that are better than others, but most of them are, when it comes down to it, a damage boost.

The more outside the “extra damage” pattern you get, the more likely that it completely changes your capabilities in game - sometimes even to the extent that it’s almost a weapon class of its own.

So the fact that you’re reliant on the RNG to get these blessings is really frustrating. With the locks removed and such so that I could swap around blessingas as I wished, then I wouldn’t care all that much I had to use up one of my Blessing slots to get Deflector…

… but when a sword generates with two underwhelming blessings (which may include “a low level of Deflector I’d rather replace”), and I’m forced to decide which of those I have to keep in order to get Deflector on there, that frustrates me.

Nah force swords are more than good enough these days. Having to sacrifice a blessing for that utility is extremely fair.

Having the noticeably telekinetic power staves have deflection (but not melee block) would be better than the bonk we currently have.
